No.6_Tomonori Ando / Freelance

PROFILE
After 15 years of experience at a leading Japanese fashion brand, he became independent as a freelancer. He is active in a wide range of activities, including consulting for design companies and designing for brands. He is also a sneaker freak with a collection of 200 pairs of sneakers at home.
Q1: What is the point of today's coordination?
Ando: I picked up the colors of the sneakers and matched them with red and black. Since the theme was to use vintage clothing for styling, I chose corduroy pants for the bottoms, which go well with vintage knits. I have always liked corduroy and wear it all year round. Corduroy has a strong image of fall and winter, but it was originally a breathable and durable garment that surfers would wear on their way to the beach.

Q2. What is the appeal of vintage clothing?
Ando: It's where you can find clothes with originality that you won't find in the new market. When I buy vintage clothing, I always visit the thrift store myself, not online. I feel attached to the story of "I just happened to go to the store and buy it because I was in the mood that day," or the words I exchanged with the sales clerk.
Q3. What secondhand clothing has caught your attention recently?
Ando: Recently, I've been interested in American street brands. Even though they are from the 80s, they have a modern box silhouette and use complex colors and patterns, and they look cool as a product.

Q4. How do you feel about wearing this new pair of sneakers? Also, do you have any particular style of sneakers that you like to wear?
Ando: I haven't been to the "Forum" since high school, so I miss it. I have fond memories of them. Back then, everyone wore all-white sneakers. Also, when I wear sneakers, I always go up one size from my true size. Basically, I only wear thick pants, so I feel like I look pretentious when I match them with just the right size shoes. So I always choose a ten-and-a-half to balance out the pants.
