People are organically connected to each other.
I heard that you went to New York with the theme of "focusing on making things and collaborating with people.
Kaneko:Yes, I did. So we met first, originally.Mr. Arturo at Ralph LaurenI was Ralph Lauren's right-hand man. Now I have a small factory in Brooklyn, where I consult and direct various brands.
Is he famous?
Kaneko:He is well known in New York. I asked him about his ideas on direction, and he is a man who is very firm on his axis and faithful to the basics. I learned a lot from him, since these are things that we had almost forgotten.
What are you going to do with Mr. Arturo here?
Kaneko:Rather than doing it together, we are going to create a collaborative line with "reshop" at his factory. We are preparing hunting-type items remade in denim.
And this is [Claire].Jutta Neumann〉.

Kaneko:Jutta Newman" once made a special order for an item that was in the stage before the shoes were completed. The finished product is, of course, beautiful, but I also thought that the stage before the finished product was also very beautiful. That is why I made such an order this time as well. We plan to expand the lineup compared to the last time. Jutta is a stubborn person, but I was happy that he accepted the order again.
This is GITMAN BROS.

Kaneko:Shirts from "The Hartford" in FranceBut the conversation did not go well, and as a result, we were not able to make the shirt. We told them our story with enthusiasm and passion, and they understood our passion, but they said they couldn't do it as "Gittman Brothers. But it was a learning experience.
Is this another shirt from the Gittman Brothers?

Kaneko:Yes, I am. This is a print of a movie advertisement. The Gittman Brothers' patterns are very unique, so we are planning a special order for "Reshop. I found this kind of fabric at the market, and I actually found it while on a business trip to the U.S. I thought it would be a good idea to purchase the fabric and use it for VMD purposes when displaying the special-order items in the store.

Kaneko:Then I drove from New York to New Jersey. There is a large military warehouse there, where they produce military items, and they accept orders in their free time when the military is not working.
Are you preparing something?
Kaneko:New York.DAVE'SThere is a store specializing in workwear called "Workwear", and I used items I bought there as the subject matter to create something that resembles workwear made by a military factory. The details are workwear, but I thought it would be interesting to use ripstop fabric, which is often seen in military items.
Next, what is this brand called?

Kaneko:“ManonikThese clothes are made by a Japanese artist named "Kai". It seems that his works are displayed in a museum in New York, and he has moved his base to New Jersey. It seems that the rent has been going up and up recently. This person had a studio in a corner of a building where artists gather. He has a loom there, weaves fabric with threads he finds himself, and sews it himself to make clothes.
I can feel from the pictures that the clothes are very delicate.

Kaneko:It's a completely special piece of clothing, an art piece. I really think it is genius.
Is New Jersey on the upswing right now?
Kaneko:I heard that all the artists are moving on. Maybe it is due to the influence of Corona. It is quieter than New York and the rent is cheaper. It's not so bad in terms of convenience, too, since you can get to New York in a short drive by car.
Is this a brand that makes leather boxes?

Kaneko:The brand makes bags that look like tool cases and leather products for interior decoration. One of our PR staff found this brand and said he wanted to work with it. I think it is our role to think about how we can incorporate these items into fashion. It is not interesting to just buy and sell. We thought it would be a good idea to incorporate them into a form similar to interior furniture, so we made a special order in the shape of Mt.
Do you feel that there is a mix of cultures in both New York and New Jersey?
Kaneko:I feel that everyone is doing what they can do in their own business. The starting point for this is the feeling of "because we love it. I feel that interesting things are being created through the connections between people.
