Among the items for the 25th anniversary, Yamada's favorite 15 special vintage items were selected.

From items that even Mr. Yamada had never seen before to newly discovered denim that will rewrite the history of vintage clothing, this anniversary year's collection was full of items that could be called treasures. The items we were given a glimpse of during the interview were enough to create a museum of vintage clothing, but in the end, we asked Mr. Yamada to choose an item from the collection that he is particularly attached to.

1942y LEVI'S 501XX CINCH BUCKLE

This is a new discovery, a "Levi's®" with belt loops and cinch back made during World War II. Originally, this specification was supposed to last until 1936, but for some reason, the 13.5 oz. fabric and iron rivets and other details of the WWII model are used throughout, while the architecht is stitched rather than painted. ." "It came out with the '42 flashers, so it must have been sold, not sampled. I'm not sure if it was only this year that the item with cinch back was revived, but it's more of an enigmatic item that rewrites denim history than an irregular item."

'50s LEVI'S 501XX DEAD STOCK

This 501XX was introduced in '53 with double-sided tabs & leather patches that were used until '54, and was only produced for a very short period of time! . I got it from a collector who had it in storage. It's also a golden size, 34 waist and 32 length.

Late '60s LEVI'S 505E

The Big E notation indicates that the 505 was made in the late 60s , but it is an irregular item without top buttons or belt loops. . Moreover, while we were photographing it, we discovered that the belt loops were in the pockets. . Somehow it must have remained in the middle of production until the present day. . Perhaps the loops were put in the pockets and passed on to the next line after the product was finished to this state. It's a valuable document that reminds us of the manufacturing process back then, and it's a perfect collector's item.

'20s LEVI'S TWILL PANTS

The Levi's ®︎ work pants in black twill are one of the first pairs Yamada has seen, and like the No. 2 denim, they use iron top buttons, so were they sold as a lower-priced line? At first I thought they might be post-dyed, but the fact that the slacks are pure white shows that they were not dyed. It is a very rare piece."

'50s LEVI'S 507XX "T-BACK"


This is commonly known as a thong back, which is a fabric switch at the back in order to make larger sizes from denim woven on an old-type power loom with a narrow fabric width. 46-inch and larger denims have this specification, and it is an item that has quickly come into fashion due to its unique details and the popularity of big silhouettes. Moreover, this is the second T-back version, of which only four have been confirmed so far in the world. This is the fifth one we have found, size 52 inches . And it's in good condition, dark blue.

'50s LEVI'S 507XX DEAD STOCK

Like the previous one, this is a 507XX, but this one is a size 44 and not a thong. . but what is noteworthy is its condition. It was found as a dead stock. The 2nd size, with both breast pockets and a slightly wider body, actually looks better when worn just right than when worn large. You can keep it as a collector's item, or you can enjoy wearing it for a long time and letting it fade to your own color.

'30s HEAD LIGHT BROWN DUCK CHORE JACKET

Yamada says with regret, "The size is exquisite, and I wish I could have worn these myself instead of selling them. ......" These brown duck coveralls were made in the 1930s. . It has change buttons and a chinstrap with 30's details, and is in good condition. It is rare to find a smaller size in good condition, but even then, there are very few that I would want to wear myself.

'40s CHAMPION AFTER HOODIE

This item is a crew-neck sweatshirt with a hood added afterwards , called a post-attachment parka. This is a "Champion" made in the 40's with a cotton drawcord, and is double-faced with two layers of thick sweatshirt sewn together. NAAA stands for Naval Academy AtHLETIC ASSOCIATION , the so-called Naval Academy. The seepage print has a good atmosphere.

'50s CHAMPION REVERSE WEAVE AFTER HOODIE


C.W. POST" is sometimes seen on regular and 90s sweatshirts, but it is said to be named after the founder of the Long Island University athletic team and breakfast cereal maker. This is a reverse weave retrofit parka that can be identified as being made by " Champion " in the 50's because of the early tataki tag on it. It has a classic green print with a single-color imprint, rather than the two-color green and yellow print of later years. And it comes in size XL, making it the best of both worlds.

'50s CHAMPION REVERSE WEAVE AFTER HOODIE


. the way the colors fade is amazing. The quality of dyes used back then and today may be different, but you can't get this kind of atmosphere unless you live in California," says Yamada. This is a Champion reverse weave from the 1950s, with a flocky back print. The navy and orange color scheme is also exquisite.

'30s CHAMPION DOUBLE FACE HOODIE


It is a highly regarded navy sweatshirt, and this one was made in the 30's with a rocking hood, separate pockets, and double face. It is a size 50 big silhouette , so it is ideal for wearing as a top outerwear. The ribs are bagged to double up, and the hood is lockstitched, making it completely different from later years.

'30s BIG YANK FLYER CHAMBRAY WORK SHIRT

The "Big Yank" from the 1930s, which he says "a customer asked me to find, and after 20 years of searching, I finally found it," is commonly known as a "Yank Flyer" with a FLYER tag. It is one of the most famous chambray shirts of all time. It has many vintage details such as green-stitched ventilation holes on the sides, a mess pocket, metal buttons, and armholes and back yoke reinforced with two layers of fabric.

'50s TOWN CRAFT CORDUROY SHIRT "ELVIS DOT"

This corduroy shirt, full of Fifties atmosphere, was made by "Towncraft" in the 1950s, and its tailoring techniques, such as the horizontal use of fabric and the perfectly matched pattern, are sure to please. The pattern is commonly known as "Elvis Dot" because it was worn by Presley, and this item is famous as one of the rare items. This item is also in good condition and can be called dead stock.

'50s LEVI'S SHORT HORN WESTERN SHIRT

Among the denim western shirts from Levi's ®︎ that continue to soar in price, this one is a 1950s model with a center short horn tag, also known as a Sawtooth shirt because the flap of the breast pocket resembles the teeth of a saw. . since this is workwear for cowboys, it's hard to find one in such good condition to begin with. This one in particular is even rarer because it has copper buttons instead of pearl or silver riveted buttons."

'60s LEVI'S SADDLE MAN WESTERN SHIRT

This cotton western shirt with an all-over print of a saddle man is one that even Mr. Yamada has never seen before. . It clearly shows the atmosphere of the 1960s, when Levi's® was changing from pure workwear to a fashion piece. The dealer kept refusing to sell it to me, saying he didn't want to sell it to " Levi's®," but I asked him to give it to me for the 25th anniversary.
