Running in the mountains and the city with PUMA's "SEASONS".

PUMA has always been a sportswear brand that has been manufacturing products in a straightforward manner. The "SEASONS" collection launched by the brand last year incorporates functions and designs suitable for outdoor activities, and is a departure from the image of PUMA to date. Barista and runner Kazuma Ozaki reviews this collection. What do you think of the comfort?

At most, 30 kilometers two days a week.

Mr. Ozaki, you often post about your running on Instagram.

Ozaki:I used to work at a coffee stand that had a connection with sports. So many of my customers were runners. But I always wondered what the fun was in running (laughs). (laughs). Then I had a chance to run once, and I ran about 4 kilometers.

How was it?

Ozaki:My body was already falling apart (laughs). I was damaged pretty badly, but after I recovered, I ran again, got beat up again, ran again, and repeated the process, and I felt that the damage was less and less and my speed was increasing. I realized that the more I did, the better I got, and that's how I got into it.

In ball games, there are waves of good and bad. You can be good one day and not so good the next day. Running doesn't have that, and you can grow as much as you run. That's what makes it interesting.

How often do you run?

Ozaki:About five years ago, I was running three times a week. Then I got busy with work and started running less frequently, but the distance increased, and there was a time when I was running about 30 km twice a week.

20 kilograms?

Ozaki:After work, I would come home around 9:00 p.m. and meet my friends for a run. 20 kilometers of running would tire me out and I would be able to get a good night's sleep right away.

How often do you do this now?

Ozaki:I still run about 15 kilometers before work or on my days off.

That's quite a long distance, isn't it?

Ozaki:What do you think? In my case, after running about 4 kilometers, I don't get tired after that. I feel out of breath and tired after the first 4 km, but after that, it doesn't matter how many kilometers I run, it feels the same.

Have you ever participated in a full marathon?

Ozaki:I don't have a competition, but it's about 42 km from my house to Sensoji Temple and back. So a while ago, I ran that distance while stopping at a coffee shop on the way and doing some sightseeing.

On the other hand, do you also run on trails?

Ozaki:I have been invited to run, but I have yet to run hard. I have done some running in rough terrain, but nothing serious. So I would like to get more serious about trail running in the future.
