Sevsig celebrates the 5th anniversary of the brand's establishment! Five riders' jackets by five creators.
SEVESKIG, which makes some of the most delicious items among the many domestic brands, will celebrate its 5th anniversary this fall. To commemorate this anniversary, the brand asked creators who are close to the brand to collaborate on the theme of "rider's jackets. The participants were Manabu Kobayashi of SLOWGUN, Motoki Masui of JAM HOME MADE, Koji Udo of FACTOTUM, Manabu Tsuyoshi of FDMTL, and Manabu Kurumada of THE GREAT BURGER. The Great Burger" and Atsushi Kurumada of "The Great Burger". This time, in addition to Kenta Abe and Takeshi Nagano, who are at the helm of "Sevsig," the above five were invited to talk about the brand, the riders, and meaningful collaborations from various angles.

We wanted to work with people we respected.
What made you decide to do this project?
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)This fall marks the 5th anniversary of the brand's launch, and we simply wanted to make it a festival. I thought it would be interesting to have the people who have always been a part of our brand create a riders' jacket that could be considered a signature of "sevsig," and I felt that something new would be born. That's how we came up with this project.
You threw the subject "Rider's Jacket" to each of them.
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)Yes, we had each person design a jacket based on the theme of "the kind of rider's jacket I would like to wear. We would communicate with them about their detailed requests, such as "I want to use this kind of material" or "I want to add this kind of detail," and we would create items using our own production backgrounds.
How were the five people gathered here today chosen?
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)We asked people whom we both respect and admire to join us. For example, Mr. Kobayashi of Slogan, I have been buying his clothes since I was young, and I myself am a fan of his work.
Kobayashi. he came to the store and we started talking a lot since then. Now we go out to eat together.
What were the other four people you met?
Nagano (city)I met Mr. Udo of "Factotum" at a drinking party , about 7 or 8 years ago.
workingI don't remember that. I don't remember that at all (laughs).
Nagano (city)This was when I was still working at my previous job. Mr. Udo was my senior at school. Since then, I have had dinner with him and have consulted with him on various matters.
What is your relationship with Mr. Masui of Jam Homemade?
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)Once upon a time, we worked together on a collaboration project involving anime. Mr. Masui and my Nagano friend are anime fans (laughs).
additional wellI had heard from someone that there were anime lovers in close proximity (laughs).
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)We have had the opportunity to collaborate with him on several occasions on collaborative items that did not involve animation. The items that Mr. Masui creates are truly core, and the riders he designed for us this time turned out to be far beyond our imagination.
What about Mr. Tsuyoshi from "Fundamental"?
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)Tsuyoshi-kun is a friend of mine. I think we met about 6 years ago.
Nagano (city)We usually keep in touch with each other and talk about "going out to eat".
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China). I was once invited by Mr. Tsuyoshi to participate in Pitti Uomo.
Obito (hereditary title, often given to powerful regional families)It's a field trip for adults, that's what it is (laughs).
Finally, how about Mr. Kurumada of The Great Burger? It's the only one of these that is in a different industry, and it's a collaboration with a restaurant.
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)Kurumada's company manages a brand called "Frederick," and through that connection, I was introduced to him by an acquaintance, which is how we got to know each other. We are the same age, and we get along very well. When it comes to fashion collaborations, it is common for clothing stores to collaborate with each other, but I thought it would be interesting to have someone from a different industry as one of the five of us, so I asked him to join us.
windlassAbe and Nagano make very good products. My company runs a women's apparel brand, and when we started a men's line, we had them make denim pants for us once. The finished product was so good that we have made several items together since then.
additional wellYou can tell at a glance that the two of them are particular about their craftsmanship. I can feel the love they put into each and every item. Everything is done with care, from the materials used, to the processing methods, to the smallest of details. Sevcig is a brand you can't go wrong with.

."This time, I designed it under the theme of "revival," recreating what I used to wear 30 years ago. It has 9 nostalgia pockets on the inside of the body , and is made to authentic specifications so that you can ride a motorcycle even in the middle of winter. The item, which I can no longer wear now, has been revived, bringing back many memories of those days to my mind. I think it has become an item with such a high degree of perfection." The more you wear it, the more you get used to the charm of the rider's jacket.
I understand that the rider's jacket is a symbolic item of "sevsig," but what made you decide to create this item when you started the brand?
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)There are many brands in the world, and each has its own characteristics. When we launched Sevcig, we thought, "What is the strength of our brand? I thought, "What is our strength?
I see.
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China). And Nagano, the designer, happened to be good at handling leather and denim. So we decided to focus mainly on leather. There are not many Japanese brands that specialize in leather, and it is easy to create an image. So we started by making leather riders' jackets, and then designed T-shirts and other items. Now I am making a full line of items using materials other than leather.
How do you see the appeal of leather as a material?
Nagano (city)As far as the production aspect goes, it takes a lot of people involved to make a good jacket.
Considering the tanning of the leather , it seems that there are many steps in the production process.
Nagano (city)I think that leather items have a very human touch because of the many hands that go into them. Also, leather, like denim, changes over time. The more you wear it, the more it blends in and the more its texture changes.
Obito (hereditary title, often given to powerful regional families)Sevcig's leather jackets are very good. When I tried it on, I found the leather to be extremely soft and easy to move around in. I had an image of leather as being hard, so I was surprised to find that it was easy to wear, which was my honest impression. So naturally, I've been wearing it more and more.
Ministry of Revenue (Tang-dynasty China)Tsuyoshi , I see you wear it quite a bit (laughs).
Obito (hereditary title, often given to powerful regional families)Right? . Actually, I had never put my sleeves on a leather jacket before. I had never been down that road... . But when I tried one on at an exhibition, it felt surprisingly comfortable. I thought, "Oh, even I can wear this jacket" (laughs).
additional wellLeather is like a second skin, isn't it? I ride a motorcycle, and I often wear riders' jackets. The thicker the leather, the more it protects you and keeps you warm, so you want to wear them.
windlassI can see why it would change over time. I have never worn a leather jacket or rider (laughs), but I like leather products. For example, the sofa I'm sitting on now will become more and more beautiful as time goes by. Leather products last a lifetime, don't they? Of course, they need care, but the more you take care of them, the more you love them.
From a fashion point of view, do you have an image of leather riders' jackets?
working. it's an item that symbolizes the bad guys, isn't it? . I have a strong impression of the rockers who would gather at the Ace Cafe. In my case, there was a "Shibu-Kaje" boom when I was in my teens, around the end of the 1980s, I think. That's when I first came into contact with rider's jackets. The most popular brands were Vanson, Schott, and Lewis Leathers, which are synonymous with riders. I would buy these items new and raise them up, and there were even some who would sleep in their jackets so that they would fit in quickly (laughs).
KobayashiI was living in Paris at the time when Shibu-Kaje was popular in Japan, and everyone walking the streets was wearing riders' jackets. I think it was probably due to Madonna's influence, but the girls were wearing soft leather, short-length riders, and the whole city was black (laughs). (Laughs.) But I didn't want to wear something that soft, so I went to vintage stores that stocked items by Schott and Harley-Davidson, and I spent a lot of time looking at those items. They cost hundreds of thousands of yen, and at the time I was living on about 500 yen a day, so I couldn't afford them.
Didn't you think of getting it somehow?
KobayashiOf course I thought about it. I had been thinking of ways to get it for a long time, and the only realistic idea I had was to enter an art contest and buy it with the prize money. I was confident in my drawing skills, so I entered a Japanese contest from Paris and won the prize money. I won the prize money and bought a "Schott" One Star. I am still very attached to it.

."We have made the riders from a different material than leather. It is made of a raised denim material, and we want you to pay attention to its wool-like appearance. . Of course, you can enjoy the charm of the color fading and the wrinkles that appear as you wear them day after day, as they change over time. Even if you treat it a little roughly, it will develop its own flavor, so I hope you will wear it a lot and make it your own.
