After working as a buyer for the select store "Edifice", he became independent. After working on his own, he launched "Reshop" in 2015. Currently, he is a conceptor of the store and also supervises various brands and labels.
Over time I have found the basics for me.
As a buyer who travels around the world, Mr. Kaneko has had the opportunity to hold many things in his hands, and to experience their temperature, texture, beauty, and fun. What are her favorite items that she always uses?
I am still a fan of basic items," he says. Especially recently, I feel that I am going back to my roots, or rather, I am becoming more inclined to do so. It is easy to follow trends, but when it comes to choosing basic items, it is important to know where to place the emphasis. There are many points, such as price, quality, history, and background. I took a lot of things in my hands, and over time, I finally found the basics for myself.
There is a saying, "Rome was not built in a day," and in Mr. Kaneko's case, he has also taken time to hone his aesthetic sense. And, there is definitely "Mr. Kaneko's basics," which are not just basics.
I like to look at American things from a European point of view, and vice versa. I also like the sense of crossover, such as wearing a dress casually. Basic is basic, but the way of wearing and using it is not straight-forward. That sense is always present in my mind.
Naturally, all of the items introduced here are Kaneko's personal belongings. They have been worn, washed, and ironed many times. Sometimes carefully, sometimes roughly, Kaneko-san's own unique approach to caring for his items makes them all the more appealing.
I just wash them and hang them up to dry as usual. If something doesn't wash well, I wear it less often, but there are things that have gradually gotten better over time. So the act of washing is also quite important for me.
Rather than drawing things closer to you, perhaps Kaneko-san is good at drawing things closer to you. . That is why I feel that there is a change in the way he faces each item. The way she measures the distance between items and the way she touches them shows her sense of style. Let's take a peek at his sense of style through "Kaneko's Basics," which we will introduce hereafter.
