NO.1 "Kinoshita / Pink grapefruit and chili mead" at ANTELOPE

¥2,860 (ANTELOPE)
ANTELOPE is a Shiga-based brand that specializes in brewing mead, a liquor made from honey. Kinoshita" is a collaboration item with "Kinoshita," a restaurant in Nagoya where you can enjoy tacos, sake, and art. This mead is lavishly flavored with pink grapefruit and accented with a little red pepper. It creates a complex finish.
. only recently did I come across Mr. Antelope. I had never even heard of mead before, but I had the opportunity to taste it at an event with them. I'm actually not that strong on alcohol, but this mead, with its rich honey-sweet aroma and slightly carbonated, refreshing flavor, is really delicious and easy to drink, even for someone like me! Personally, I think it's a good mix between naturals wine and craft beer. I personally think of it as a liquor that is a perfect mix between naturals and craft beer, and juicy is the perfect word to describe it. Kinoshita" Pink Grapefruit and Chili Mead has a juicy, yet dry taste, so I think it can be served chilled and paired with a meal! I also love the packaging, which is pretty enough to leave on the table as is."
NO.2 "What Churchill Said / Juniper Berry and Lime Mead" by ANTELOPE

¥1,870 (ANTELOPE)
Another one from Mead, also from "Antelope". What Churchill Said is a craft mead inspired by the king of cocktails, the gin and tonic. It combines juniper berries and lime, botanicals used in gin. On top of the juniper berry's characteristic aroma, the lime's refreshing citrus flavor gives it the aroma and taste of a complex cocktail. The questioning name of the product, by the way, comes from British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, who once said, "Gin and tonic has saved more English lives and hearts than all the doctors in England. . It is our hope that this mead will become a drink that saves the hearts of Japanese people just like a gin and tonic.
. "The 'What Churchill Said' one is a real treat for those who, like me, love sweet drinks, and the honey notes and the freshness of lime make it a gobbler."
Tsuchiya's theory of drinking at home
Q1: What kind of drinking do you usually do at home? What are the advantages of "drinking at home" compared to "drinking out"?
The best part of drinking at home is being able to gather together delicious foods from all over Japan at the same table at one time. It is a blissful time when you can eat only what you like and as much as you like at one time, such as seasonal fruits, dumplings ordered from a famous restaurant, take-out from that restaurant, cakes from your favorite restaurant, and your favorite sake.
Q2: What dishes do you usually prepare when you "drink at home"?
When I have a drink at home, I usually order in dried mackerel from Koshida Shoten. It is a dried mackerel that arrives frozen, and if you grill it until it is crispy, it makes a great snack. When I'm in a western mood, I also love Sunday fromage comte cheese. It goes perfectly with mead.
Q3. What is your most memorable "home-drinking" experience?
I used to be an overwhelmingly "out-drinker," but after the Corona disaster, I realized the joys of ordering food from restaurants and fell in love with "drinking at home. We had the best time at the drinking party, where we brought our own selections of "ordered food" to share with other food-loving members who share the same interests.
GLASS & BOTTLE
Don't be so churlish as to say that anything is fine as long as you can drink it, but let's start with the container! Drinking from a glass or growler that reflects the characteristics of each store will surely taste even better than usual.
