Fishing and traveling go hand in hand because some fish are limited to certain seasons and places. Going to an unfamiliar place is stimulating, and places that are not usually on the list for a trip are seen in a different light when fishing is the objective. Besides fishing, dining and sightseeing are also part of the fun. This time, HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB visited the East Hokkaido area! We will enjoy fishing in this northern land rich in nature. We usually enjoy mainly bass fishing, but on this trip we tried trout fishing and ocean fishing. This article is the first part of a trout fishing trip around a magnificent lake!

Rotate lures to get that one fish you've been longing for. I reeled, stop-and-go, lifted and fell. Still no bites, and the time just kept passing. As I was feeling a little impatient, Ichikawa's rod started to crack!

Ichikawa:It got into the roots and I had to break it up. Too frustrating.

The sun had completely risen, the small fish swimming along the shore were gone, and I noticed that there were no other anglers in sight. Still, HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB perseveres.

However, we cannot expect to catch any more fish by doing so, so we decide to pull out.

Ishii:I tried different colors and different fishing methods, but no response. I still have regrets. However, the scenery was great and it was worth coming. It was a good experience and I would like to try trout fishing again.

Ichikawa:When I first came to Lake Kussharo, I was amazed at the beauty of the scenery. It was great to be able to relax and fish in the midst of the magnificent nature. It is a pity that we lost a fish. I would like to come back next year to take revenge.

Komatsu:I have longed to fish for trout in Hokkaido, but my unrequited love has not borne fruit. I still need more training. But it was really pleasant. Even though I didn't catch any fish, I was satisfied.

Ikemoto:I didn't even get a bite, but I was comfortable. I saw a beautiful sunrise and enjoyed the time flowing slowly. Fishing in an unfamiliar place is fresh and interesting.

Although we have some regrets about not being able to fish, Lake Kussharo was strangely fulfilling. This is the end of trout fishing, but it is still before noon. If the lake is not good, let's go to the sea! The news said that the port had been swarming with saury since late October, and they were biting like crazy. It was reported that more than 100 sunfish were caught in one night! Although the time of year was a little off, we decided to give saury fishing a try.
