Naoki Matayoshi dreamed of wearing pajamas to sleep with dragons.
MADE IN PEACE

Naoki Matayoshi dreamed of wearing pajamas to sleep with dragons.

Naoki Matayoshi is a multi-talented comedian and writer, and is also known as one of the most stylish comedians in Japan. Matayoshi has launched his own brand, "Suiryusha," and is releasing pajamas that reflect on his birthplace, Neyagawa. His life and fashion history up to now are connected like a single river. Along with his commitment to fashion, his love for his hometown also flowed without stagnation.

Like a river of ideas.

Mr. Matayoshi talks about clothes with sparkling eyes as if he had returned to his childhood. Unlike his conte-making and writing activities, did he have any difficulties in making clothes, which are three-dimensional objects?

When I actually tried it, I realized that creative work and making clothes are similar in the way we use our brains. When I write a novel, words that come to me unconsciously as I write often bring up images of people that I didn't know existed, and I realize that they are the same, and I am able to write the next sentence. I often found myself writing the next sentence. The feeling of having one idea lead to the next was something we shared in common.
I started in Neyagawa, and then I thought about using domestic materials to make the pajamas, thinking about my hometown, and I also thought about having a dragon protect me for a good night's sleep because I had been suffering from insomnia for a while. When I finished the project, I think that it was meant to be this way from the beginning, but it was just a series of small steps.

Looking at the pajamas, which were created by connecting keywords like individual dots that became lines and connected like a single river, one feels as if one's entire life up to this point has been packed into the pajamas. However, I wonder if he did not feel a kind of fear in stepping into the field of fashion, which is a different field for someone who professes to be a clothes lover, and making clothes. . After thinking about it slowly, he spun his words firmly.

I think it would be very scary if I thought of mass-producing my work twice a year like a fashion brand, but the concept was to make my own pajamas that I would most like to wear to sleep, so I wasn't too preoccupied. If I had made the work with the idea that I wanted it to be popular with everyone, I think I would have heard people say, "I don't want it," but I don't think that way anymore. There was a time when I almost wanted everyone to read my novels, but it is impossible to read all the novels published in the world, and everyone has their own favorite books. Of course I would be happy if they read my novels, but now I feel strongly that everyone should enjoy being surrounded by what they like.
In the case of clothes, as we get older, our body shape changes and our lifestyle changes, so I don't think we can stay in the same clothes forever. I like these pajamas so much that if you like them, please try them out.

The pajamas will be sold at events in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo , and Neyagawa, Osaka . He is very excited to be able to hold events in his hometown.

This is my first time to hold an event in Neyagawa, and I have always wanted to do something in my hometown, so I am honestly happy to be able to hold an event in Neyagawa, which gave me the opportunity to create the pajamas for this event. I am also looking forward to the fact that I cannot predict what kind of people will come to the event.
