Eight years ago, he opened his own barbershop "Barber Sakota" in Shimotakaido. He also produces original products such as grease, hair oil, caps, and messenger bags.
What was the reason why you opened your own salon in Shimotakaido?
I happened to find a vacant property that had all the right conditions: it was on the first floor, spacious, and close to the station (laughs).
What do you like about this city?
The atmosphere is great. There are many stores that have taken root in the town for a long time, rather than large chain stores, and alongside them there is a record store with a good taste and Shimotakaido Cinema, which has an elaborate selection of films to be screened. The clientele here is much broader than in Omotesando, where I worked before becoming independent. I also like bicycles, and I like that kind of scenery.
What are your hobbies?
I have been skateboarding for a long time and started riding mountain bikes a couple of years ago. My friends and I take our bikes to the mountains in Chiba, and we enjoy riding along the riverbanks, not necessarily going downhill hard, but just for fun.
It looks like it feels good.
It feels great. I saw an instagram of professional skaters in Los Angeles who were riding bikes together, climbing mountains with friends, and drinking beer in nature, and it looked like a lot of fun. I tried to copy them and that's how it all started.
What kind of bag do you use when you do activities?
When I ride my bike, I tend to use a messenger bag because my back gets hot. On the way to and from skating, I like to use a backpack that can hold my stuff because I want to carry a water bottle, camera, mobile battery, towel, board maintenance tools, etc.
Did you find the Whitesnake daypacks to be a good fit for your scene?
It's just right. The large capacity allows me to carry everything I need, and there are many pockets inside, all of which are easy to see. There are a lot of pockets inside, and they are all easy to see. It is also convenient when I go out with my children. I have a lot of toys, changes of clothes, etc., and sometimes I have to take them out suddenly, so the utility pockets that can be accessed from either side are very useful.
Did it fit with your usual style?
This daypack goes well with the slightly loose silhouette shirt style that I like. The functional design and elaborate details such as the watertight zipper give it a nice combination of a tech-like feel and a classy leather look.
