Too much attention to detail and materials.
-Can you tell us about the points you have arranged?
Great North: First of all, I thought, "Wave Prophecy LS" is a complete design, so I should not do anything unnecessary with it. Without changing the general framework, I was conscious of making it easy to match as a fashion item by adding my own arrangement of details and materials.
Saito:Kohei's proposal is that, at a quick glance, it looks like a dark-toned tonal color, but in fact it is composed of a complex combination of details and materials. If you take a closer look at the details, you will see what I mean.
Great North: For example, the TPU panel on the side of the upper. Inline, a matte material is used, but in this model, a material that allows light to pass through moderately is used, and a reflector material is placed under it.
Saito:It causes some areas to reflect light 100% and others to reflect it dullly through transmission. It is a subtle difference, but the contrast is beautiful. When viewed in a bright place, the lightness of the appearance is completely different.
-It is true that the expression changes depending on the way the light hits it.
Great North: Other than that, we dared to choose an organic-looking material for the shoe tongue and settled on the most basic mesh for the upper after careful consideration. The heel is decorated with rainbow-colored reflectors. We wanted to add a little accent to the dark tones.
Saito:During the production process, Kohei told us that the image source for this collaborative model is a casual urban landscape. If you take a moment of an urban landscape, the overall tone is dark. But if you look at the details, you see something like oil flowing out of the ground, and its surface reflects rainbow colors. And the expression looks the same, changing from moment to moment, and so on. The aurora borealis reflectors and semi-transparent TPU panels were inspired by this image. Hearing such a story, I was again impressed by the originality of the idea and the flexibility of the conception.
Great North:I have recently become more interested in things other than fashion. Architecture, furniture, ceramics, and so on. In this context, I am often attracted to things that have a sense of materiality. For the arrangement of the sneakers, I carefully checked the material sample book from end to end and thought it through in my own way. Because "Wave Prophecy LS" has so many parts, the range of possible arrangements is extraordinary. It is not comparable to ordinary sneakers. It was a lot of work, but it was also very rewarding.
