Since your solo debut, you have been working very energetically.
I started my solo career in April this year and have been busy releasing singles three months in a row, performing at festivals, and other things that I am grateful for. I am preparing for a solo tour in October, so I am also preparing for that.
I think that this year has seen a change in the way time moves.
I had been entrusting the work to my trusted colleagues in the band, but now I had to do it by myself, and there were so many things I had to try for the first time, including production and various preparations. Everything I did was new and fresh, and the time passed very quickly. I feel a great sense of fulfillment.

How do you find the time in your busy schedule to do what you want to do?
When we are busy, we tend to think, "I only have so much time left! I want to be positive about that. However, I want to make this a positive thing, so I am changing my mindset to focus on the "now" as much as possible.
In the end, there is only so much we can do at the moment, and the accumulation of these efforts will lead to the outcome in the future. However, it does not mean that we have to live in a hurry.

I do keep time for appointments with people, etc., but I want to use time in a way that is honest with myself so that I don't put strange stress on production. When I think about it that way, the meaning of looking at a clock changes.
I especially like and think it is important to be able to capture the moment-to-moment movement of the metal object called a hand on an analog dial. That's why I can really relate to Timex's concept of "analog life," which says, "Instead of being controlled by time, you can create your own fulfilling and luxurious time.

─ Is there a reason why you started thinking about an analog lifestyle?
One of the reasons may be the movie "Perfect Days" that I saw a while ago. There may not be many people who live that kind of slow life, but Hirayama, the main character (played by Koji Yakusho), is the complete opposite. He lives a life where he is restless unless he is constantly informed, and I thought to myself, "I need to take a proper rest and have some space in my heart.
What do you do?
I watch movies, read novels, and hang out with friends usually without thinking. Since I naturally consume the music I like, I wanted to input ideas that would lead to lyrics once I was away from music.
If you are obsessed with music all the time, it is difficult to come up with new ideas. On the other hand, films and books allow you to concentrate on one world and immerse yourself in it, so there is a sense that you can bring back new sensitivities.

I think music is a wonderful form of entertainment that colors time. Are you conscious of "time" when you create music?
It is said that so-called short and catchy music is in vogue these days. With so many choices for entertainment, I think people are bored in a good way, and trendy things are consumed quickly. Personally, I am attracted to long songs that tell a story, but I don't have the courage yet to create long songs for a variety of people to listen to (laughs).

Of course, music is a matter of personal taste and enjoyment, and there is no such thing as what is good or bad. However, it is important to always keep a playful mindset, thinking about how to make a long piece of music feel short.
─ ─ "Make it feel short," in other words, .......
Time can expand and contract depending on how we feel. A very enjoyable time feels very short. I think music is like that. When I am absorbed in a live performance, it is over in an instant. On the other hand, if I am listening to an unfamiliar song at a festival and I am not in the mood, it may feel longer. I try to make my music interesting and short.

I hope this interview feels short (laughs), but finally, how do you feel about the "weekender" that you wore this time?
I like the combination of the simple analog dial and the casual yet elegant nylon band. In summer, I often wear jeans with a T-shirt or polo shirt, and the blue and gray color scheme blends easily with my attire.

It goes with today's outfit.
I like the way the watch adds a bit of maturity to the rough coordination. I realized when I tried it on that the silver color subtly links with the necklace and bracelet I usually wear, so it goes perfectly with them.
