Miyuki Aihara chooses a gift for someone special at D'Orsay.
Life with D'ORSAY

Miyuki Aihara chooses a gift for someone special at D'Orsay.

As the air becomes translucent and cooler in the coming season, fragrances seem to stand out for some reason. Perfumes by the French-born D'ORSAY are characterized by a soft fragrance that defies the stereotyped notion of perfumes. The playfulness of the French style, with all the models represented by the initials of a certain person and a poetic caption, is sure to spice up your gift-giving. For the holiday season, we asked model Miyuki Arihara, a regular DORSÉ user, to choose a DORSÉ perfume for her loved one, while sharing her thoughts on gifts and fragrances.

I really like Dorsay.

I'd like to ask you about fragrance. I hear that you are a regular user of "D'Orsay".

Zaihara: The Omotesando hair salon where I usually get my hair cut carries almost all kinds of "D'Orsay" perfumes. When I go there, I definitely talk about fragrances with the hair stylist there. She recommended "D'Orsay" to me, and when I tried it, I was pleasantly surprised by the fragrance, and I have been a fan ever since.

I see that you like perfume so much that you talk about fragrances.

Zaihara: Yes, I do. My father and mother both wore perfume for a long time, but my parents gave me perfume as gifts when I was in junior high school, so perfume has always been around me. My parents gave me perfume as a gift when I was in junior high school, and perfume has always been around me. As I grew up, I wanted to change my fragrance as I grew up, and I have been searching for my favorite fragrance each time.

What effect does the scent of perfume have on you?

Zaihara: When you are at home and in a daze, perfume can feel like an engine revving, or when you are feeling restless before bed, putting on your usual perfume can be a relief. Perfume is like a source of nourishment to become my usual self rather than something that makes me very excited.

When do you wear it?

Zaihara: In the morning when I get dressed. On days when I have a photo shoot, it would be impolite for the fragrance to get on my clothes, so I put it on my wrists only, for example, where it does not touch my clothes. When there is no shooting, I sometimes put it on when I am naked.

What do you use at Dorsay?

Zaihara: There are two kinds: "A.R." and "M.A.". At first, I was attracted to "M.A." because it was the same as my initials (laughs). (Laughs.) Then, I also chose "A.R." because it is my favorite fragrance. What I find amazing about D'Orsay is that, for example, if I use "A.R." as a base, I can put on other perfumes depending on my mood at the time, and they don't get in the way, but rather become the essence of the fragrance. I always wear one of these two. That's why my consumption is so great (laughs).

I see... I see that layering is also possible. The concept of "D'Orsay" is that it is a perfume that is only complete when worn by a person, or rather, it is a perfume that brings out the best in a person. Therefore, I think it is ideal for Ms. Aihara to use the margins of "D'Orsay" as she does.

Zaihara: That makes me very happy. In my case, I am a little embarrassed to let anyone know which fragrance of which brand I am wearing, so I add it to my "d'Orsay". Of course, there are times when I only use "D'Orsay.

What do you like about "A.R."?

Zaihara: I often wear "A.R." on days when I have to work. I think it probably has an essence that helps me. On the other hand, I felt from the decrease in perfume that you wear "M.A." when you want to relax or on special occasions (laughs).
