Sneaker freaks will be satisfied with the degree of perfection.
- Adidas Originals has just released a special edition of the Handball Spezial, one of the T-toe style's most famous models. What is your impression of this sneaker?
Tokunaga: Frankly speaking, I think it is well made. The colors are beautiful and the silhouette is beautiful.
Yamada: I agree. Every detail is well done. Not only this, but the recent reissues by "adidas Originals" have a high level of perfection. As someone who has seen vintage sneakers for many years, I agree.
- One difference from the original is that the color of the three stripes on the outside and inside of the upper is different, with the outside arranged in white and the inside in yellow. How do you feel about that?
Yamada: So yellow is a key color for "ABC-MART". Interesting approach. The twist is very effective.
Tokunaga: Yeah, I think that's good. I think this is good. It's very current.
Yamada: I think it's a very good idea. It is an arrangement that Mr. Tokunaga and I would never have come up with if we had focused only on reproducing the original.
UCHI: Even though I don't know the original, I can see that the yellow is a great addition. When I wear sneakers, I like to subtly pick up the accent color used in them with accessories. In the case of the "Handball I thought it would be interesting to think about how to dress the "Handball Spezial" with the yellow coloring.

I also thought the suede upper would go well with old clothes, so I chose old double-knee pants from Carhartt. For the top, I tied up a tweed jacket with a shirt, and tried not to make the overall look too casual.
