ARC'TERYX SHINJUKU

The more you know about Arc'teryx, the more you like it.

From full-fledged outdoor use to street use. ARC'TERYX" continues to attract many people with its sophisticated design and functionality designed for use in the field. Born in Vancouver, Canada, the brand has gained worldwide support in recent years. Through an interview with Ken Takagi, who is in charge of the brand in Japan, we will reveal the brand's present and future image, as well as the full picture of the new flagship store in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

The aim of opening a new store in a very prime Shinjuku location.

- On November 30, 2024, the Arc'teryx Shinjuku Brand Store opened in Shinjuku, Tokyo. What are the features of this store?

Takagi: This will be the largest directly-managed store in Japan, offering a full lineup of the latest collections from Arc'teryx and VEILANCE. The store is located next to Shinjuku Alta. It is one of the most prestigious locations in Tokyo, where many people come and go both in the morning and at night.

- Arc'teryx just reopened its Kobe store on November 9. What was your aim in choosing Shinjuku as your next location?

Takagi:The idea of opening a store in Shinjuku has been in the works for more than five years. Shinjuku is not only the most trafficked commercial zone in Japan, but also a gateway to the outdoors. From Shinjuku Station, the Chuo Line connects not only to Takao, but also to the nature-rich areas of Yamanashi and Nagano, and you can approach any outdoor field by taking a bus from Basta Shinjuku. In fact, many people buy clothing and gear in Shinjuku and head directly to the mountains. For us, it is important to have a store in such a location, and we believe that there is no other location where we can expect to be as effective as Shinjuku in raising brand awareness.

- Please tell us about the floor configuration of the Arc'teryx Shinjuku Brand Store.

Takagi: The first floor represents a seasonal theme. Currently, the theme is alpine climbing, and we plan to change the theme every month. Alpine climbing does not account for a large percentage of the brand's overall sales, but it is a core area that we value as a brand.

Takagi:The second floor features women's outdoor apparel, Veilance, footwear, and backpacks. The fitting rooms are spacious, allowing customers to enjoy shopping at their leisure.

Takagi:On the third floor are men's outdoor apparel and footwear. Veilance" is divided by gender and is also available on this floor.

Takagi: And on the 4th floor, we have the first "RIVERD™ Service Center" and community space "Beta Lounge" in Japan.

In addition to care and repair consultations, the "RIVERD™ Service Center" is capable of handling a wider range of repairs, including repairs that require sewing. It is also the first store in Japan to have an in-store washer/dryer, and will provide washing and water repellency restoration services for GORE-TEX® apparel.
