What kind of activities have you been doing recently?
Odawara: While continuing to create the same works, I am also preparing for my second collaboration with the brand "NYA-", which will be released in February next year. We are planning to have a pop-up at the NYA-〉 store in Aoyama and at Shibuya PARCO, so I would like many people to come and see our work. I am also working hard on a solo exhibition at the MAT gallery in Omotesando next November.
I see that your beautiful work comes from this workroom. What is your favorite part of this room?
Odawara: The desk area is decorated with my favorite colors, such as the purple of the Vitra Pantone chair and the red of the Wootenshiro chair. I also like the table that was used in my father's office. I work side by side with my husband, but he doesn't seem to be able to concentrate much (laughs).

I understand that your child was born in July. Congratulations! Do you feel that your work has changed since the birth of your child?
Odawara: I don't know. But I have developed a desire to make picture books. When my friend's child sees my smiley face, he or she responds, "You are smiling! I would like to work on a picture book of that smiley face.
I am very much looking forward to seeing the picture books you will create. How do you balance work and childcare?
Odawara: Morning time is spent with the children. During the day, my husband and I take turns working while I watch the kids, and I work when the kids are settled. In the evening they go to sleep, and from there I am in full work mode until the evening. If there is a meeting during which I am the only one who can take care of the child, I sometimes take him to the meeting place.

How do you always coordinate your work?
Odawara: I get turned on when I work in comfortable clothes, like pajamas, so I wear these [Mizuno] Tech Shield I wear comfortable bottoms like climbing pants. To lift my mood even in such a comfortable style, I consciously incorporate colorful items.
