Hui-Nam Fishing Club Winter Campaign. Casting game in Tokyo Bay!

Even in winter, when it is too cold to go outside, anglers are still drawn to the ocean and lakes. The Finamu Fishing Club is no exception, and we are eager to enjoy this season. This time, we boarded a boat and enjoyed casting games in Tokyo Bay! Our main targets were Spanish mackerel, which is in season right now, and sea bass, which is a representative of the Edo-mae area, as well as other species of fish. We will also be targeting other species of fish, and as is our tradition, we will be enjoying the fish we catch together!

A good start! A good size fish appeared!

We finally set sail at 6:00 a.m. at twilight and headed for our first destination while setting up our tackle. The rod we will use this time is the "SWAGGER" by Daiwa, which I always use for bass fishing. Although it is a bass rod, its specifications are also suitable for sea bass fishing, and I have used it as a reassuring partner for sea fishing in the past.

Since its debut in 2022, the "SWAGGER" rod has been so popular that new models are released every year, and new models will be introduced this year as well! The lineup includes six models. Two models are center-cut 2-piece rods, and four models are 5-piece pack rods. This will make it easier to carry and move around on train trips and expeditions. This time, we were given a special opportunity to use the rods!

We arrive at the first point when we finish getting ready. At first, we target Spanish mackerel. Captain Endo gives the order, and we all start casting at once! We watch the pleasant morning sun, swaying in the waves and feeling the cold wind, while we are eagerly trying to lure the first one.

Ishii: The temperature is warmer than I expected and it's pleasantly cold. The air is clear and the scenery is beautiful and soothing.

Komatsu: It is a good time in the early morning. The tide was just starting to move, so I had high expectations.

Chasing Spanish mackerel chasing sardines, we move from one point to another to see what happens. We hear that other boats have caught Spanish mackerel, but we get no response. ...... It was one idea to stick around, but we decided to change our target to sea bass.

After a short boat ride, we move on to the next point. The fish finder shows a large number of small fish as bait, and the boat is filled with a sense of tension. Then, Komatsu's rod was caught!

Murata-san followed in no time! A double hit from the very first shot!

Komatsu: I was just reeling it in a little slower, and then it hit me with a thud! It was quite heavy, and I enjoyed a good fight from the very first fish. The size was a whopping 79 cm! It was a new personal best for sea bass.

Murata: I was reeling it in a little early, but it didn't respond, so I loosened it up a little and it bit. It was a relief to catch it first.

The hit lure for both anglers was the Shoreline Shiner Z Set Upper S-DR. This is a very popular lure that boasts overwhelming success in sea bass fishing. The color was "Adelble Pin Sardine," which imitates a sardine, and they ate it.

Meanwhile, Ikemoto also got a bite! It seems that the time has come.

This was also a good-sized fish, 78 cm in length! The hit lure was also the "Shoreline Shiner Z Set Upper S-DR," but in Casting's original color, "Moeru Radish.

Ikemoto: I had been using only natural colors, but I chose this lure because of its interesting color scheme and design. I was happy to catch fish quickly with the lure I bought yesterday. The "set-uppers" are great, aren't they?
