Sashiko Gyaru's first landed in Tokyo.
You were able to see the work of the "Sashiko Gals" members at their homes this time.

Ozawa: A pair of stitched sneakers costs about 300,000 yen. They are not inexpensive. In fact, when I show the sneakers to people who don't know "Sashiko Gals," they say, "Cute! but when I tell them the price, they make a scene (laughs). (Laughs) But after seeing the work, I understood the reason for the price, and I think the meaning of the upcoming event is to show that price is equal to value.
So on the day of the event, we are thinking of having artisans from "Sashiko Gals" come and hold a workshop for making badges. If people can experience how difficult it is to do stitching, I think they will better understand the value of these shoes.
Fujiwara: I think first-timers will have a hard time with badge sizes and will understand the difficulty.
Ozawa: That's right. If people can experience the tremendous amount of energy and time that goes into stitching, for example, they may want to save up to buy the next time there is a stitching sneaker sale.

Sashiko badges. You can experience the workshop at the event.
Is the Tokyo Creative Salon the first time Sashiko Gyaru's has held an event in Tokyo?
Fujiwara: This is your first event as "Sashiko Gals."
Ozawa: At first I was not sure if I could do it or not, but you adjusted it for about a month. Thank you very much.
Will you actually be selling your stitching sneakers at the event?
Ozawa: The event is for three days, and initially we wanted to sell only one pair per day. But for various reasons it became difficult to sell them, so we plan to have the workshop and sneaker exhibition I mentioned earlier.
Lastly, do you have any message for the visitors of the event?
Ozawa: We are planning to have artisans from Otsuchi actually do the stitching on the badges and let visitors take the badges home with them. During the 11-day period, there will be events in Marunouchi as well as in other areas of Tokyo with completely different themes, so I hope you will visit these events as well.
Fujiwara: I, too, am glad that so many people will be able to see it. I have a sense that "SASHIKO GALS" is getting excited on SNS and other social networking sites, and I look forward to feeling that excitement onsite.

The "AIR TRAINER I" ordered by Mr. Ozawa was completed about two and a half months after the interview. Mr. Fujiwara told me that it was the first model he had ever modified, so it was a process of trial and error. For example, the design and coloring of the toe and heel are different on the left and right sides. I am deeply moved by the depth and narrative of this product, which is not just a product, but a product that has been created after visiting Otsuchi Town in Iwate Prefecture, meeting and talking with Sashiko Gyaruz," says Ozawa.
