This store has the name "NEXUSVII. Do you have any special feelings about it?
Konno: The store at PARCO was also called "NEXUSVII." but since we were renting space in the pavilion, we were only able to create a limited view of the world. In that sense, here, we created a bellows door and put in our favorite fixtures to express the brand's character.
Next year will mark the 25th anniversary of the brand's establishment. Do you have any plans for the future of "Nexus Seven"?
Konno: The 25th anniversary may seem somewhat half-hearted in Japan, but in Europe and the United States, it is celebrated with great enthusiasm. So, we would like to announce our 25th anniversary with pride. We have some interesting plans in the works, including collaborations with brands we have worked with in the past and some new ones, so please look forward to seeing what we have in store.
I don't feel that your attitude has changed at all.
Konno: My enthusiasm for the brand has not changed at all from when I started. On the other hand, I feel that the longer I have been involved in this project, the more I have less cause for concern. In the beginning, we started with just momentum, not knowing anything about how to make clothes, and we were moving forward with the help of many people. Now that we have come this far on our own, we feel that we want to make good products and leave them behind. Our enthusiasm has not changed, but the way we deal with clothes, the way we present them, and the strength of our output have all been developed over the past 24 years. I feel as if the years have added to my experience and thickened the trunk of my company.
Last but not least, what is your vision for the future of this restaurant?
Konno: V.E.L." is located next to a house, so we have always been reserved about holding events there. However, with this store, we can have customers stand in line, so I would like to try some kind of project that would generate a lot of noise. I would like to create limited edition items or collaborate on spot events. The establishment of the store has given birth to new ideas, and I would be happy if you could look forward to them as well.
