My first ALTRA

Yoshikage Kajiwara, first time at Altra.

Since its founding in 2009, the shoe brand ALTRA has been pursuing the natural running style of human beings. With unique features such as "Zero Drop" and "Foot Shape," the brand is widely known among core runners, but what is the actual comfort of its shoes? Or rather, what exactly is "natural running"? We will explore the essence of their appeal with Ms. Yuka Kajiwara, who says she has been curious about them for a long time but has never tried them on.

It is an opportunity to rethink not only your run but also your walk.

What did Mr. Kajiwara think and feel when he tried on the Altra shoes for the first time? We asked him again.

--What was your impression of Altra at the exhibition in the U.S.?

Kajiwara: Among the many brands of running shoes, I had a different impression. The toes were bulky, and the design looked like a dado shoe. Frankly speaking, I thought they were not really to my liking, so I continued to pass on them without actually wearing them.

--How did you feel when you tried them on for the first time today?

Kajiwara: It was a great experience. Above all, the feeling of freedom and liberation in my toes felt great. I had just been reviewing my body and the way I walk, so I thought Altra shoes were perfect for me right now.

--What are your thoughts on wearing zero-drop or low-drop shoes for the first time?

Kajiwara: The Zero Drop felt like my heel was off the ground, which was very new to me since I tend to walk with my weight on my forefoot. It would be a good opportunity for me to rethink my usual walking style. On the other hand, I did not feel any significant difference between the 4mm drop and my previous running shoes.

--How do you plan to wear the three pairs of shoes you have selected?

Kajiwara: As I resume running after a long absence, I felt it most appropriate to use the 4-millimeter drop "forward I felt that the "Forward Via" with a 4mm drop was the most suitable for me to resume running after a long absence. I felt a high level of cushioning after just a short run, and I liked the freedom of the Altra's unique toes. They look good not only for running but also for everyday wear.

Mont Blanc The "Boa" is completely for city wear. The design is stylish and stands out from the rest of the Altra line. It is easy to turn the dial to take them on and off, and the fit can be easily fine-tuned. I thought these shoes were interesting from a sneaker standpoint as well, in that the functionality is visualized.

Zero Drop's "Escalante 4", I would like to wear them for walking first. Although I found the comfort of Zerodrop shoes to be unique and interesting, I think it is a bit risky for me to run in them at this time. I walk a lot on a regular basis, so I would like to try them on a daily basis, and after I get used to them to some extent, I would like to try them for running as well.
