On the day of the Setoda Lemon Marathon, the area around Setoda in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, where the event was held, was blessed with a pleasant blue sky. Although the temperature was a little cooler than usual, it felt warm under the sunlight.



The starting venues of most marathons are usually filled with a unique sense of tension, but this marathon is completely different, with a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Perhaps this is due to the mild climate and natural features unique to the islands of the Seto Inland Sea.


At the starting point, there is a clothing collection box by . This initiative allows runners to wear their old clothes until just before the start of the marathon to beat the cold. The collected clothing is then reused and recycled using 's proprietary technology. This year, original patches made from upcycled clothing collected up to the previous race were distributed as a participation bonus.


Runners attach measurement chips to their shoes and head to the starting line. The race will start soon.
