What I thought and felt through the Setoda Lemon Marathon.
What did the runners think as they visited Setoda and ran through this land? We asked the three runners what they thought while visiting Setoda and how they felt about the environmentally friendly management of the event.
I sympathize with their efforts to reduce environmental impact.

The participants in this event are mainly fun runners who enjoy running without worrying about records or rankings, rather than those who are more competitive. At first, I thought I would enjoy running, too. But once the race started, I was turned on and thought, 'If I'm going to run all this way, I want to do well. I am honestly happy to have won the women's race. I have been to Setoda the year before last and last year as well, and I am always impressed by the warmth of the people and the beauty of nature. I want this nature to remain forever, so I sympathize with the efforts of this event to reduce the environmental burden. In general marathons, disposable cups are scattered around the water supply points, which makes me feel blue, but in this event there is no garbage, which makes me feel good while running. This year I heard that the CO2 emissions associated with holding the event will be offset, and I thought it was wonderful that the efforts are evolving year by year. I would like to continue to take steady actions on a daily basis as well.
An opportunity to ponder the future of mankind and nature.

At the moment I crossed the finish line, I felt a sense of relief that I had completed the race, but now I feel a sense of frustration that I could have done a little more. But now I feel a sense of frustration, thinking, 'I could have done a little better. Next time, I would like to practice more and finish the race with a faster time. I love the outdoors, and I also love to travel with sports. I have unconsciously enjoyed so-called sports tourism. This is my first visit to Setoda, and I was impressed not only by the beauty of nature but also by the warmth of the local people, and during the race I was empowered by their support along the race route. I was also impressed by the environmental efforts of the race. I myself am always conscious of my actions, such as carrying my own bottle and trying not to generate garbage, but participating in this race strengthened my awareness of these issues and made me think again about the future of people and nature.
I rediscovered the wonders of nature. I also became more aware of the environment.

It was the most enjoyable marathon I have ever run! During the race, I was moved by the beauty of the scenery and the warm support along the route. I was so excited the whole time I was running. I was also impressed by the lemons and oranges offered at the aid stations. They were so delicious that I ended up eating too many (laughs). I had heard in advance that this event was run in consideration of the environment, and after actually participating, I could see that every aspect of the event was thoroughly implemented, including the use of my own bottle and cup, carbon offsets, and recycling of clothing. Through my own participation in this event, I was reminded of the wonders of nature, and my awareness of the environment was further heightened.
