There are many great stores in Paris, but the hottest store of the moment has to be WORDS, SOUNDS, COLORS & SHAPES (formerly known as A YOUNG HIKER). The interesting thing about this store, which has gained even more momentum since its relocation from the Palais Royal to the Marais district, is the owner, Ramdan Touami's aesthetic sense and taste, which interprets the outdoors in a modern way from his own unique perspective. Recently, he has been focusing on his original brand, "Die Dreibeeg," all of which are catchy and appealing. The bright color palette of their outdoor wear has a fashionable pop. The umbrella in the photo is the store's original one that I purchased when I was caught in the rain on a recent business trip to Paris. It has a design of pennants of famous mountains from around the world, and the colorful appearance is so cute that I love it so much I want to fold it up and carry it with me even if it doesn't rain. I like Fishmans and go to their live shows whenever possible, but after the documentary film "Film: Fishmans" released in 2021, the stance and sound feel of the band seems to have changed. I visited the Kansa River in Aichi for the first time for an interview. There, two professional fly fishermen were waiting for me. They are the Sugisaka Brothers, famous in the fishing world. Despite the cold and rainy weather, I was amazed at their technique to catch amago fish so easily! They said that their technique is quite logical and that they decide where to stand in the river and where to release the fish by watching the current of the river and the rise of the fish. I was also fascinated by their catchy appearance. On the day of the tour, Tomohiro wore a wading jacket made by Woolrich Outdoor Label. A new travel companion.

At the end of last month, I went to Paris on a business trip. I chose a suitcase and a rather large tote bag as my traveling companions. The latter was for carry-on luggage, and when I put my laptop, books, sweatshirt parka, and other things in it, it was rather bulky. I could easily carry it on top of my suitcase to the airport counter, which was fine, but after checking in, it was a lot of work. I recently attended a Paul Smith event in Kyoto. It was a presentation of collaborative items with the gardening brand "Niwaki. Paul Smith, who came to Japan for the event, showed no signs of fatigue from his long flight and was in high spirits as he chatted and took commemorative photos with customers and other related parties. I had the opportunity to interview Paul, and as I was listening to him, he suddenly grabbed my legs with both hands and said, "This is something I can't get easily in the U.K., so I'm going to have to get it for myself! Since last year, I have been wearing the same outfit like this almost every day in spring and summer. I choose a shirt partly because I feel that a shirt with a collar makes me look like a proper member of society. Inevitably, long-sleeved shirts appear more and more often, and the ones I wear the most often in my closet are the ones from "Diaspora Skateboards. This model has been released continuously for the past two years, and for my height and weight, size L is neither tight nor oversized, but just right. I currently have a total of three (four if you include the fall/winter version) of the same model in plain and checked patterns in my closet, and I got a new one this year as well. Kenji Sato's book "53/100

Continuity is power.

I am not good at keeping on doing the same thing steadily since I was a child. My mother, who has continued to learn calligraphy and play the piano, told me, "You will lose your life if you do that," and I sometimes wonder if I will lose my life if I am bored. In the midst of all this, I visited "Rooms" in Kuroiso, which I interviewed last year about wooden carved bears. Since I had no knowledge about wood-carved bears, the owner, Mr. Kawase, taught me a lot of things about them. When we looked at the wooden bear corner in the back of the store, we found that most of the bears were carved by Kenji Sato, a sculptor based in Asahikawa, Japan. The history of wooden carved bears is said to be about 100 years old, and Mr. Sato has been carving bears for 53 of those years, making him a master himself. The book contains 160 pages of photos and interviews with Mr. Sato, his works, and his life and activities for more than half a century. 53 years of carving and supporting a family is so amazing that my imagination is not enough and I learn a lot every time I turn the pages. I just admire this world, a world that has nothing to do with the desire for approval, whether I am satisfied with it or not.

New fragrance.

Spring is said to be the season of meeting and parting, which makes us want to renew something new. I wonder if "Le Labo's Eucalyptus 20" of "Le Labo" was probably one of them. Personally, I like patchouli type fragrances, but this one is a little different. It is not too heavy, not too light, and has an exquisite warmth to it that is very unisex. The fragrance is named after labdanum, cedarwood, musk, and frankincense. It is a little smoky and leathery, but also clean. I don't know if "universally acceptable" is a compliment, but I don't think there are many people who would dislike this. Simply put, from the first impression, it is always good. It has a calming depth to it, and once you try it, you'll be addicted to it. The lettering, which I always have trouble with, is Aquarius because it was February, my birthday month. I'm so happy with the way it fits in that I think I'll do it every year.

I thought it was okay to have a little fun, but I think I was working for the interview all the time. I bought these at a select store called "HIDE." that Olada from "MADBACON" told me about. It is a Thai brand, and all of the pants here are made with buttons on the waist to accommodate sizes from 27 to 33 inches. I googled "HIDE." and found that in Japan, the pants can be shared by both men and women. I googled "HIDE." and found out that they are sold in Japan at "Jena". Yes, the photographer who took this picture is Mr. Miyamoto.

It looks like I still need more outerwear, but I would like to introduce T-shirts. You may be thinking, "Here I go again," but I bought this one in Thailand again. The store where I bought it is "DEN SOUVENIR". It is a souvenir T-shirt. The store is based in Chiang Mai, but there is also a small store in Bangkok. In fact, I spent two days there to buy this. The first day I visited there, they were closed. They are only open Wednesday through Sunday. It is truly Amazing Thailand.... That's about right. I could have given up with that, but I went all the way to visit again the next day and thought this was a good idea. But I haven't worn it yet. It is too cold to wear it. Still, I introduced this T-shirt because I hope it gets warmer soon.
