PROFILE
Born in 1998 in Gyoda City, Saitama Prefecture. Graduated from Waseda University, School of Cultural Planning. After working at a department store, currently works as a photo book concierge at Daikanyama Tsutaya. His unique Instagram is also popular, which makes people laugh unintentionally.

You are currently in charge of the art floor at Daikanyama Tsutaya.
Birds of a feather: I originally worked in a completely different field, as a leather goods sales clerk in a department store. I left the department store and entered my current position because I had been interested in art since I was a student and had an acquaintance who was an artist. I work directly with photographers and publishers in Japan, building shelves of Japanese photography books, and planning and managing exhibitions and events. It has been about two years since I joined the company, and I feel like I have finally reached the starting point.
Near the entrance, there is a corner with books selected by Mr. Hatori for a limited time.
This is truly an unusual career change. Coming from a department store background, do you have a particular passion for fashion?
Birds of a feather: I have a dress code when I work, so in my private life I choose only comfortable clothes. Tight clothes make me feel tight and uncomfortable, so I prefer looser fashions that do not cause me stress.
Are the clothes you are wearing today vintage?
Birds of a feather: Almost all of the clothes are vintage. The denim is from Calvin Klein, the cardigan is from Agnes Bae, the T-shirt is from Carhartt, all from the 90s, and the jacket is from Tripster x Deckys. The jacket is by Tripster x Deckys, and the glasses are by Oliver Goldsmith. Goldsmith.
The lineup is very particular. The caps, the badges on the cardigans, and other small accessories are also very nice!
Birds of a feather: This is the Shanghai-based creative studio Same Paper". The label specializes in art book publishing, but I also like their apparel line "Amateur" items because of their good taste. We actually had a pop-up in our store from the end of last year to the beginning of this year. I change my badge depending on my mood that day, and today I'm wearing a badge from GOF Magazine, Ken Kagami's badge, and vintage pins.
Do you have your own ways to refresh yourself on your days off or in your free time?
Birds of a feather: I am addicted to going to parks to read. I usually go to Setagaya Park, which is close to my house. Sometimes I go alone, and sometimes I go with friends. Since the weather has been getting warmer recently, I've been going more often (laughs). (Laughs.) It seems like it would be perfect to go out with a pair of "Benexy" sandals.
I like that the "120" can be worn with socks as if they were sneakers, and I also like that they are made of velour leather, which is elegant yet lightweight. I like the fact that they are made of velour leather, elegant yet lightweight. They are perfect for me, a person who seeks comfort in everything I wear. I'm also happy that they have a good amount of hold, since I'm on the move a lot.

By the way, what kind of books do you usually read?
Birds of a feather: I guess I read a lot of critiques. I am currently reading "Silence and Image" by Mariko Takeuchi, a photography critic. The content is interesting and the writing has a lot of soul. I feel the power of her writing. She accepts the incomprehensibility of looking at and writing about photography, and still continues to think about it.
This book is a review of 11 Japanese photographers. I feel that Japanese photographers are sentimental. By the way, I try to read each book twice, and I'm on the second reading.
You are very diligent in your studies, reading books that are directly related to your work!
Birds of a feather: Of course, it is also in the sense of study, but I also simply love photography. Other than detailed studies, I also love novels by Hiroki Shimaguchi. I went to high school with him, but his novels are something else. I am strangely drawn to his novels. Also, books... Even when I think, "I might not read today," I always have two books in my bookcase.
I'm off this afternoon, so I'm going to the park to read a book. The sandals from Benexy are perfect for lounging around in the park.
