What kind of image did you have of KIU?
I imagine it as a cute brand with various shapes and patterns. You always have a stall at "Fuji Rock," don't you? I think of it as a brand that is close to festivals.
As you mentioned, KIU is a brand that was born out of a festival. What made you choose to make a set-up item, given the strong image of ponchos?
I thought this could be used as everyday wear. Even though it is rainwear, it is so cute that I want to use it even on days other than rainy days. Also, I play drums in a band, and I thought this would be easy to play drums in (laughs). The drawcord hem and stretchy material are also very functional.
When would you actually wear it?
When the band rehearses at the studio, we always ride our bicycles to the studio, but when it rains, we have trouble finding transportation. In such cases, this would help me get around without worry, and I can play the drums in the same outfit as when I arrive. Moreover, when playing drums, if the pants are too wide, they tend to get caught on the kick pedal, but I am glad that I don't have to worry about that because the hem of these pants can be tied down.
How do you spend your time before and after your performance?
I go to hear my favorite artists with my members. Bad weather is a fact of life at festivals. That's why these items are so useful and I always want to carry them with me.
