She started her career as a model and launched her own eponymous brand, Ikumi, in 2015. In spring 2017, she was in charge of costumes and direction for Wednesday's Campanella's live performances.

What kind of brand is Ikumi?
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.)This brand is for people with individuality. We are making clothes for those who are mischievous and do not want to wear the same things as others.
What kind of clothing lineup do you have?
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.)All of them are black or white, and are made a little larger in size. Except for shoes, everything at Ikumi is one size fits all. For example, a tall person may be able to wear a T-shirt in a normal size, but a small child should wear it as a dress. I think it is interesting that the same piece of clothing can look different depending on the person who wears it. I often wear secondhand clothes, but there is basically no variation in size, so whether the size is large or small, that is the way to wear it. I feel the same way about "ikumi".
Where do you get your inspiration for your designs?
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.)The views in my head are often directly reflected in my designs. . something I have seen since I was a little girl, the style of my family and friends, or the wallpaper of a hotel where I have been traveling. . Design ideas often come from such places.
When making clothes, are there any particular points that you cannot deny or stick to?
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.)The clothes are a bit unique, so we use good fabrics to make them feel comfortable and pockets to make them easy to use. . I try not to be biased toward design alone, while keeping the wearer in mind. The other thing is communication. Since I am now managing the brand by myself, I have to do everything myself, from design to production. When communicating with the factories, I actually visit them and communicate with the people on site to convey what I want to express.
When do you feel joy as a designer?

The joy of seeing the world I have imagined in my mind come to life is irreplaceable. It is very difficult to work alone, and I am often told by others, "If it is so hard, why don't you quit? But I have never wanted to quit.
What did you envision when you designed this hat?
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.)I made it with the image of a unique, cat-like, and big bang! I like it very much.

eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.). I like animal ears, like dogs and cats. . I thought this was kind of fantasy-like in a way, too (laughs).
Do you usually wear a hat?
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.)I love hats . . I have a hat box at home, and I have a lot of hats in it (laughs). When I decide on my daily outfit, I often start with hats.
So the hat is the star of the show.
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.). yes, I know. Lately, I've been in the mood for a cute hat to go with my tattered clothes. I have an overwhelming number of knit caps. I like soft materials, and the number of caps I have naturally increases (laughs).

. The hat also features a strap with a bonbon hanging from each side of the hat.
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.). I have been wearing a hat with this strap on it since I was a little girl. I'm from Hokkaido, so I used to ski a lot, and maybe that memory is projected here. With the strap, it looks a bit hippie-ish , kind of cute. I like hats like this , I do.
What was the most important part of the project for you?
eclipsing (offspring of a male deer, etc.). I guess it's the size. The last time I made this, the ears stood up too much, but this time, I adjusted the size so that the ears fall down nicely, giving it a natural look. I made them a little loose, so that they actually look like ears (laughs). (Laughs) When you wear it, I want you to wear it without any tension.
Style of ikumi.
.". I made this hat with a loose fit in mind, so I chose clothes that were not tight as well. It's hard to explain the coordination when I do the styling myself... (laughs), but I like this kind of odd balance of outfits that I can't express in words. Ah! But I think the key point is that you have the whole outfit in black. That gives it a cohesive look."
