Sunglasses will be in use more and more from now on, but if you wear them indoors or at night, your vision will be too dark. It's not just a matter of "taking them off," but there are times when you have to wear them to coordinate with your outfit. IZIPIZI has released a new model with light-dimming lenses that is convenient for such situations. To introduce its appeal, we invited actor Junki Totsuka, a hobbyist and gear enthusiast. Through an interview, we introduce his personal and fashion sense, as well as the appeal of IZIPIZI's dimmable lens models.

Fashion-wise and personality-wise, "Ijpigi" fits the bill.

Do you usually wear eyewear?

Totsuka: I wear them so much that I never go without them. Now I often wear light-colored lenses. I like simple designs.

How many bottles do you have?

Totsuka: I think I have more than 10 bottles. I just can't stop buying them. I say I like simple things, but the other day I bought one that had a hanging eye.

When you buy eyewear, you buy something that goes with the clothes you are wearing at the time. But you don't wear that outfit every day, do you? So the next day, when I put on the eyewear I bought with a different outfit, I think, "Something is different. So I end up wearing the simple ones I usually wear.... What should I do? (Laughs)

That's a problem we all have (laughs).

Totsuka: So I thought it would be nice to have something like "Ijpigi" that goes with any kind of fashion.

I think you have a lot of experience in eyewear. How did you find Ijpigi compared to them?

Totsuka: I have a rough personality, so I don't put my glasses in a case. I always put them somewhere. It's the same with cars. I put them on and put them down somewhere. I often go golfing, and I put my sunglasses in my golf bag in a messy way. But IJI-PIJI eyewear has matte frames, so they don't get scratched easily even if I use them roughly, and they are really light. I think I use this kind of eyewear the most.

The price is casual, so many people have several pairs to match their outfits.

Totsuka: Yes, sunglasses are expensive. However, cheap ones may not be comfortable to wear or well designed. I think it is great that [Ijpigi] has such quality at such a low price.

The model worn this time was a lens model with a light-dimming lens that detects ultraviolet rays and changes the shade of the lens.

Totsuka: This was my first time with dimming lenses. I had always been curious about them.

How was it?

Totsuka: I didn't think there was any change in my vision when I was inside or outside, but when I took them off outdoors, I said to myself, "I didn't realize how bright it was! I thought. I felt like the eyewear was protecting my eyes without me even being aware of it. It's a strange thing, isn't it?

Indoors, the color of the lenses fades, so the eyes can be seen clearly.

Totsuka: That is also good. I often have contact with seniors, so it would not be rude to do so. However, I have an image of them being expensive. If you want to change to light-dimming lenses, you have to pay tens of thousands of yen for that alone. That was the bottleneck for me, so I have been using regular lenses, but from the very beginning, you have been using light-dimming lenses, haven't you?

That's right. And for under 10,000 yen.

Totsuka: This is just what I was looking for (laughs). I like gear, so I'm really attracted to functional things like this.

I think that the light-dimming lenses will fit in well with your active lifestyle.

Totsuka: For example, I often wear sunglasses when I ride my motorcycle, which is fine in the morning because of the glare. But on the way home, if I wear dark sunglasses, my vision is too dark. I think they are great for such situations.

I felt that it went well with the fashion that you like.

Totsuka: I rarely wear eccentric clothes, and I think "Ijpigi" will blend in nicely with my daily life. I thought the eyewear was very nice, and I will be using it a lot in the coming seasons.

Ijpigi's light-dimming lenses change their density according to the amount of ultraviolet rays. Three types of frames are available: "#C," which is a fusion of Boston and Wellington, "#D," which is Boston-shaped, and "#E," which is the largest frame in the "Ijpigi" lineup.
