At first glance, I thought it might be a high-brand shirt that incorporates the cool fluorescent vest design of overseas construction vests, but it turns out to be a real work shirt designed by Carhartt for the U.S. market.
It is a seriously functional piece that is worn by real workers in its home country, and is made of a fabric with quick-drying, wrinkle-resistant and stain-resistant features.
The reflector design is fashionable, but for some reason, when I hear that it is for real workers, the sense of costume disappears, and I feel that it would not be out of place in my wardrobe.
There was a video for the song "Intergalactic" in which the three members of the Beastie Boys dance around in fluorescent Japanese construction vests, but we are still a long way from the point where that inanity...or tackiness...turns into something cool. As the first step on that long road, I think the realistic Carhartt reflector shirts are just right.
