The weather continues to be pleasant, as if summer is almost here in Japan, but while I am suppressing my desire to play outside as much as possible as soon as possible, I am now staying at home because the emergency declaration has been extended until the end of the month.
Now, on summer holidays, there are many times when smart casual attire is required. For example, if you are staying at a nice hotel even in a resort area, you cannot just wander around in flip-flops. Gurkha sandals are the perfect pair for such situations.
Gurkha sandals were originally worn by Gurkha soldiers organized as mercenaries in 19th century India. The strap construction makes them highly breathable, and in that respect they can certainly be called sandals, but the covered toe and heel give the impression that they are more sandal and less leather shoe.
Originally ethnic shoes, but due to the aforementioned circumstances, the technology and sense of British dress shoes were combined. The shoes shown here were supplied to the Czech army in the 1990s, and are dead stock. Most Gurkha sandals have leather soles, but these have rubber soles, so they are cushioned, lightweight, and comfortable to wear. The heel is securely held in place, so driving a car is no problem. I would say this is a pair to buy. They are available in a variety of sizes, so be sure to check them out.
