There are a number of jeans makers, both old and new, but the most unique of all is Marithe + François Girbaud.
In the 1960s, jeans, which were originally the clothing of American workers, were brought to Europe, contributing greatly to the spread of jeans as a fashion item. In fact, Marithe + François Girbaud is said to have pioneered the stonewash, a standard item in processing, and their experimental designs, which were unique in a good sense, boasted strong popularity.
Many Huinamu readers may remember the store that was located right next to Daikanyama Station in Tokyo. For a time, it grew to the point where it even had its own show in Paris, but regrettably the brand closed its doors in 2013.
In recent years, such "Marithe+François Girbaud" has begun to appear in the vintage clothing market. This pair is from the 90's, and has an "extra-thick Zdon" silhouette reminiscent of painter's pants. The design is understated for this brand, and will surely fit in with street-like outfits.
