A documentary on the mysterious and devilish race, the Berkeley Marathons, is now available on vimeo.

The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB) is the world's highest trail running race. Based in Chamonix, France, and spanning three countries (Switzerland and Italy), more than 10,000 people, from top athletes to citizen runners, run through the magnificent wilderness of the European Alps.

On the other hand, the Berkeley Marathons, held at Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee, USA, attracts only around 40 participants each year. Entry requirements and entry procedures are not disclosed, and since the inaugural event in 1986, the cumulative finish rate has been an astounding 1%.

Tomokazu Ihara, one of Japan's top trail runners, continues to challenge the infamous "Berkeley Marathons," a race that seems to exist solely to deny completion. The documentary film "Main Quest 2: The Howl of an Unsullied Loser" is now available on Vimeo.

It has nothing to do with the glitz and glamour of the UTMB. Why does Tomokazu Ihara keep challenging himself in a race that is plain, muddy, and extremely grueling? Please take this opportunity to find out.
