Ray-Ban's first directly-managed store in Japan will reopen on March 20! An event will be held to commemorate this event.

We’ve received news from Ray-Ban regarding a store renovation. The store in question is the Shibuya location in Tokyo, which opened in 2018 as the brand’s first directly operated store in Japan. Located along Koen-dori Avenue, which runs from Shibuya Station, it has enjoyed popularity among people of all ages and genders.

The theme we’ve adopted for this relaunch is “RE:BORN.”

The interior features Japanese-inspired elements throughout, such as lighting designed to resemble tatami mats and wooden floors evoking a Zen aesthetic. Each pair of eyewear displayed on the walls is illuminated individually, while campaign visuals and other content are projected onto the digital screen in the center of the shop.

We’re also launching a new engraving service here. They say they can engrave a variety of icons and fonts onto eyewear and cases right on the spot. What’s more, they’ll handle basic repairs and cleaning—so it’s great to have that option for eyewear maintenance.

To commemorate our grand reopening, we commissioned Japanese painter MHAK to create a visual. That is the graphic featuring the keyword "RE:BORN" shown at the top of this article.

We hear that MHAK will be doing a live painting session on Friday, March 20 (a national holiday), the first day of the grand reopening. The finished artwork is scheduled to be displayed on the Shibuya store’s façade.

The first customers to visit the store will receive an original sticker. In addition, customers who make a purchase will receive either a limited-edition tote bag or a piece of artwork.

On the preceding day, Thursday, March 19, a preview event exclusive to the "Ray-Ban Members Club" will be held. Sixty participants will be selected by lottery from among those who registered for the Members Club and applied by Tuesday, March 10. Participants will have the opportunity to watch MHAK’s live painting up close and even chat with him. Special gifts will also be provided.
