The other day, we covered the reopening of our Shibuya store. However, the company has now announced plans to open a store in the Kansai region.
This is the first “Ray-Ban Store” to open in Kyoto. The Kyoto store features a 270-square-meter space—one of the largest in the country—displaying approximately 1,000 pairs of eyewear. The lineup ranges from classic and new sunglasses to optical collections and children’s items.
The store’s interior is designed around the brand’s key colors: red and black. Visitors are greeted by a bright red ceiling—a tribute to Japanese aesthetics—and a floor made of lava tiles. Near the entrance, there will reportedly be a digital installation created using hundreds of LED filaments.
In the back, there’s also an eye exam room designed to evoke a Japanese garden. I’m curious about that space—I hear the walls feature smoked glass with smart dimming functionality.
In addition, just like at the “Ray-Ban Store Shibuya,” they’ve introduced an “engraving” service. They’ll engrave your eyewear or case on the spot, and you can request a custom design using a variety of original icons and fonts. It’s also great that they offer simple repairs and cleaning services for eyewear.
The "Ray-Ban Store Kyoto" opens on Friday, April 3. It is located along the main street in Shijo-Karasuma, an area known for its shopping.
To celebrate this occasion, visitors to the store will receive either an original sticker or a mini torii gate as a gift. In addition, customers who make a purchase will receive an original notebook made with Kyoto Yuzen fabric and a free engraving voucher. All gifts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, so please visit early.
If you live in the Kansai region or are planning a trip to Kyoto, come find the perfect pair of eyewear for you here.
