The Grateful Dead, a legendary American rock band and leader of the hippie-culture, is the originator of the band T-shirt, which is very popular these days.

In the late 1960s, when they were active, they were the first to begin manufacturing original band T-shirts, which were still rare at the time, and began selling them at live venues throughout the United States. This spread to fans known as "Deadheads," and band T-shirts gradually took root. Later, Deadheads began making their own bootleg T-shirts and selling them at live venues, and Grateful Dead T-shirts became a tool for communication among fans, as well as an expression of their own tastes and identity.

The Grateful Dead were instrumental in popularizing the band T-shirt and growing it into a culture.

The other is a sporty version that incorporates the iconic Grateful Dead graphic of a lightning bolt on a skull, a steel your face, and elements of the four major American sports. These will also be available in two colors each.

Both T-shirts are made of T1011, a heavyweight T-shirt made in the USA.

The Grateful Dead probably have the widest variety of band T-shirts in the world, including offcials and bootlegs. Therefore, there are many core fans and collectors, and in recent years, their popularity has been increasing in the vintage market.
