Among the many fabrics used in clothing, it was *Prada (PRADA)* that elevated the status of nylon.
It all started with “Re-Nylon,” which was launched in 2019.
This material is made from recycled plastic waste—such as fishing nets that have ended up in the ocean—and can be recycled repeatedly while maintaining the same quality as conventional nylon. In other words, it makes a significant contribution to reducing the environmental impact.
Currently, 1% of the sales revenue from the “Rinylon” collection is donated to “SEA BEYOND.”
"SEA BEYOND" is a project supported by the Prada Group and the UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission. It is an educational program focused on marine conservation and aimed at the younger generation.
Against this backdrop, the Prada Group has announced that it will strengthen its support for the “Sakana-kun Research Team.”
This is part of the “SEA BEYOND” project. It was sparked by the Prada Group’s decision to renew and expand its partnership with “SD BlueEarth: The Association for Nurturing a Blue Earth,” a marine conservation and education organization led by ichthyologist Sakana-kun.
The “Sakana-kun Exploration Team” was launched in 2024. Through fieldwork, workshops, lectures, and research presentations, the program helps children gain knowledge about marine conservation and deepen their understanding of the ocean’s role.

Twenty elementary school students are participating in the FY26 program, which will consist of a total of eight sessions running through February of next year. Unfortunately, registration for this year’s program has already closed, but new participants are recruited each fiscal year.
There’s no doubt that the “Sakana-kun Exploration Team” initiative sparks children’s curiosity, and I think it’s wonderful that the “Prada Group” is supporting it.
It is these cumulative efforts that will pave the way for a better future.
