One space exploration effort that is once again attracting attention is NASA's Artemis Project. This is a manned lunar exploration mission, and in April of this year, "ARTEMIS II" was launched with a rocket carrying a crew of four to orbit the Moon and return to the Earth.
In the midst of this situation, Axiom Space and Prada jointly developed the LCVG inner layer for the next-generation lunar space suit.
For those who don't know, Axiom Space is an American space exploration company that also produces spacesuits.
The “LCVG” stands for "Liquid Cooling and Ventilation Garment" and is meant to be worn by astronauts inside their space suits. It is important because it is said to enhance comfort and maintain cooling and ventilation functions during EVA activities lasting up to 8 hours.
The announcement says this will be used in Artemis IV, scheduled to take place in 2028.
The development of LCVG utilizes Prada's engineered knitwear technology and design concept. The 3D modeling technology that creates three-dimensional shapes on a computer was used.
The effort by both parties follows the outer layer of the space suit, which will be announced in 2024.
Prada's cutting-edge technology is being utilized in fields other than fashion. How will this initiative develop in the future? The future of apparel may lie outside of the earth.
