Masterpieces such as the Dickies 874 and the Levi's® 501 have silhouettes that we can even vaguely imagine. It takes a lot of courage to take a scalpel to a silhouette that has a long history and a large following, and is, so to speak, universal.
The image of "Ben Davis" pants, one of the synonymous American workwear brands, is, after all, a very thick silhouette. These pants by HAg-Le are based on the brand's Gorilla Cut, which is characterized by its wide silhouette. The gorilla cut was purchased in an oversized 40-inch size and custom tailored to about 34 inches. They are tucked in the front to keep the original silhouette as much as possible.
As anyone who has worn Gorilla Cut can tell you, they have successfully cleared up the contradiction that the more you ask for thickness, the more your waist becomes gabby.
While digging out old masterpieces is one of the pleasures of vintage clothing, the potential of these masterpieces can be used and reused successfully to suit the modern age. As a consumer, I am happy to see an increasing number of vintage clothing stores that have such a reliable eye and modern sense of style.
