Ron Herman is a long-established specialty store established in 1976 on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood, Los Angeles. Mr. Fukumoto works as a men's PR for the store, which is based on the relaxed casual style of Los Angeles, while incorporating various trends as its own style, and proposing not only fashion but also lifestyle. He first encountered Brooks Brothers when he was in high school.
My house was in Machida, and when I was a student there were still many used clothing stores in the area in front of the station. I liked vintage clothing even back then, but one day I bought an oxford button-down shirt, which was my first Brooks Brothers shirt. That impression is so strong in my mind that even now, when I think of shirts, I think of button-down shirts. Today, I'm wearing a standard button-down shirt and denim shorts, just like I did back then.
Although his first encounter with Brooks Brothers was a chance acquisition, like many others, the more he learned about the brand, the stronger his feelings toward it grew.
At the time, I was into black music and was strongly attracted to American culture. I naturally came across Brooks Brothers, and as I learned more about the background of the brand, such as the fact that it was born in New York and that it has the longest history of any traditional American brand, I came to like Brooks Brothers even more. I came to like "Brooks Brothers" even more. Now, I only own Brooks Brothers set-ups.
Brooks Brothers" has maintained its style as a brand for over 200 years. The legacy of "Brooks Brothers" is very attractive to Japanese fashion users who value the history and background of the brand, and it attracts many people. Ron Herman now carries Brooks Brothers as well, offering shirts, trousers, jackets, and other items that form the core of the brand, as well as items specially ordered by Ron Herman.
When I went to the U.S. for the first time, people there were dressed in denim and T-shirts with cashmere knits or button-down shirts draped over their shoulders. That left a strong impression on me. I thought, "This is the American style. I guess you could say it was the best way for me to look good without being overdressed. For that reason, a Brooks Brothers button-down shirt is an indispensable item.
