Since its establishment in 1999 in Seattle, USA, the hotel has adopted a crafted design with a local touch and has continued to grow as a hotel that is loved not only by guests but also by local residents.Ace Hotel." Ace Hotel" is located outside of its home country, such as in London, England, but the first Ace Hotel in Asia, "Ace Hotel Kyoto," will finally pre-open on June 11, 2012.

The Ace Hotel Kyoto is located in the Shinpukan building, a redevelopment project of the former Kyoto Central Telephone Station, designed and supervised by Kengo Kuma. The building is directly connected to Karasuma-Oike Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway Line, making it easily accessible.

The hotel, built around the concept of "East Meets West," will feature a lobby space, gallery, and other features that are sure to enliven the local community, just like the other "Ace Hotels. During the pre-opening period, two restaurants will be open for business, and special menus will be offered for a limited time.

One of the restaurants is Mr. Maurice's Italian, an American-style Italian osteria and rooftop bar located on the third floor of the Ace Hotel Kyoto.

The interior of the restaurant is designed by California artist Alexander Cori Girard, with black and white penny tiles and movable panels dividing the dining area. Tables by Hideki Takayama, a woodworker based in Mashiko, Japan, and a table by Kyoto's renowned craftsman, <wire mesh spikeThe lighting and other features give the room a sophisticated and warm feeling.

Marc Vetri, who supervised the restaurant, is a talented chef who has won the famous James Beard Award, an award given to outstanding chefs. He has worked in both Italy and the U.S. and is now known as one of the top Italian chefs in the U.S. .

The other store has a DJ booth built of copper and a "QUSAMURAPIOPIKO is a strikingly modern bar and taco lounge with "PIOPIKO" houseplants and ceramic art by ceramic artist Kazunori Hamana. Located on the mezzanine and second floor, the restaurant offers a new kind of taco, a twist on traditional Mexican cuisine with a variety of national cultures.

The restaurant was supervised by Wes Avila , owner of the popular Guerrilla Tacos restaurant in L.A. He is well known as one of the pioneers of contemporary Mexican-American cuisine, blending casual food with the skills he accumulated in fine dining.
