TAG Heuercelebrated its 160th anniversary. Among the many masterpieces that have been released so far, the Carrera is the most representative. This timepiece was first completed in 1963. The year before, Jack Heuer, then CEO, heard about the Carrera Panamericana Mexico, the most grueling car race across Mexico. He was attracted to the Spanish word "Carrera," meaning "road" or "race," and adopted it as the name of a chronograph before it ever saw the light of day. It became an indispensable piece among time-critical car racers, and before long it became an icon of the brand.
Presented here are two special Carrera models celebrating the brand's anniversary year.
First up is the TAG Heuer Carrera 160th Anniversary Silver Dial Limited Edition. As the saying goes, "back to basics," and this one is based on one of the silver-colored dials from 1964. While keeping the design from that time as much as possible, the case has been changed from 36 mm to 39 mm and is equipped with a new movement, the Caliber Heuer 02, which boasts a power reserve of approximately 80 hours. The perpetual seconds hand, originally at the 9 o'clock position, has been moved to the 6 o'clock position. There are a few other minor changes as well, but you can see the faithful design better when compared to the photo of the original model below.

Next up is the TAG Heuer Carrera 160th Anniversary Montreal Limited Edition. The "Montreal" was originally released in 1972 and is now a collector's piece. It was characterized by its innovative graphical coloring, which was unique among Carrera watches at the time. This reissue retains the coloring of the original, but has been reborn as a special model with three counters. The movement is the same as before, the Calibre Heuer 02.
