HANAO SHOES" and "TOCHU" won the "MERIT" award in the fashion design category of the "99th New York ADC Awards" announced this May, making "Whole Love Kyouto" the only Japanese winner.

These sandals, called "HANAO BEACH," feature an unusual design with a Japanese-style nose strap attached to the bottom of the flip-flop, as in zori (Japanese sandals) or geta (Japanese wooden clogs).

Although flip-flops have an image of having originated in the West, this item was designed based on the idea that flip-flops originated from the Japanese footwear culture that used naso, or a traditional Japanese sandal. Now they are available only during the summer season as a new standard item of "Whole Love Kyouto".

The final product of "Hanao Beach" is of course made in Kyoto. The nose ring, which is the heart of the design, is made by skilled craftsmen such as "Kikunoyoshi" and "Hiraishige Shoten" in Osaka, which are well known as purveyors to the Imperial Household, so the quality of the workmanship is certified.
