In addition to the four categories of Art, Entertainment, Animation, and Manga, this year's festival has been scaled up with the addition of the Festival Platform Award.

Festival Platform Award

The winning films of the newly established Festival Platform Award will be screened at "Geo-Cosmos" and "Dome Theater Gaia" at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan).

Geo-Cosmos" is the symbolic exhibit of Miraikan, born from Director Mamoru Mohri's desire to share with as many people as possible the glorious image of the Earth seen from space. The same image can be viewed from various angles, and the image platform, which has no front view, allows free expression of the image, free from the rules of flat images.

The other is "Dome Theater Gaia," a spherical video system capable of projecting fulldome surround images in 2D and 3D at 4K resolution on a 15.24m-diameter dome-shaped screen.
