They can be added to stews, made into ajillo, or roasted in a lump and made into steaks. ...... Mushrooms can change their appearance like an actress with just one arrangement.
Did you know that such mushrooms can be made into a leather-like fabric?
That is Mushroom Leather & Products by Mycotech Lab, a bio-startup from Indonesia. The exhibition is being held at FabCafe Kyoto (MTRL KYOTO) in Kyoto until Saturday, December 19.
In recent years, vegan leather, which has the texture and functionality of leather but does not use animal products, has been attracting attention, and Mycotech Lab, in cooperation with local farmers, uses agricultural waste as a material.
MYLEA is a leather-like material made from the mycelium of mushrooms, and is used to make bags, shoes, wallets, and other products. It is light and supple, yet strong.
These items are made by combining pineapple, sugarcane waste, sawdust, and wood shavings, using mushroom mycelium as the glue.
At the exhibition, not only the products are displayed, but also the manufacturing process and background are shown. Using recycled materials to create products that enrich people's lives. A visit to this exhibition is sure to raise your awareness of the importance of sustainability.
