Solo exhibition "COMMA #02" by OKI KENICHI, a Fukuoka-based painter active in Japan and abroad, will be held at the art gallery "CLASS" in Jingumae.
OKI creates abstract expressions by transforming "thoughts" into human figures, or by crossing letters of the alphabet into unique forms (known as "okifonts"), using painting, spraying, and other techniques.
In preparation for this exhibition, he left the following statement.
A comma connects the words "has been" and "will be."
COMMA #02 is filled with OKI KENICHI's thoughts for the year 2021. 14 new works will be added to this exhibition, including an abstract painting that crosses figures and letters, as well as a letter work. Please enjoy his new works, which continue to change subtly through repeated trial and error.
The combination of rich colors, straight lines, curves, and symbolic oki fonts are sublimated into a one-of-a-kind work of art.

OKI KENICHI
Painter. Based in Fukuoka, he is active in Japan and abroad. His works include abstract paintings in which "thoughts" are transformed into human figures, letter works in which the alphabet is transformed into a unique form, and sculptures and installations based on a cross between the two. He has his own studio and store "OKIOSK" in Ropponmatsu, Fukuoka, and has designed many items in collaboration with apparel brands and musicians.
