Two-headed Baku brings good luck for the New Year! The auspicious event will be held at Calvin Klein Harajuku store.

Calvin Klein, which has been on a roll, including a limited collection with American designer Heron Preston last year, has announced that it will be launching a new line of products in the new year. The brand has an announcement to make at the beginning of the new year.

The content of the event is a live painting that will take place at the Harajuku store in Tokyo. This event invites ink painting artist CHiNPAN.

For those who don't know, Chinpan started ink painting in 1996, and his own works were selected for the "Asian Creative Art Exhibition" at the "National Art Center, Tokyo" in 2008. Currently, as an artist, his main themes are "fusion" and "rebirth and death," and he pursues various means of expression ranging from fashion to spatial decoration to body painting.

This live painting will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8. Admission is free and will last from one to two hours. Works completed here will be on display for about a week, until Sunday, January 16.

The entrance is decorated with a two-headed tapir. This fictional creature is based on Janus, a guardian god of Roman mythology, who was believed to govern the month of January because he had two faces, one facing forward and the other backward, and was located at the boundary between the end of the year and the beginning of the year. The baku is said to eat nightmares and turn them into good dreams, and there is a custom to place this painting under one's pillow to ward off evil spirits. The artwork is also projected on a digital screen in the store.
