The summer of 2022, the hottest summer in the world. How will you spend it? How about a vacation abroad, or how about in Edo, for example?
In other words, if you dare to stay in Tokyo, then "Hoshinoya Tokyo" is the place for you.
Hoshino-Resort" has an image of being scattered in resort areas, but "Hoshinoya Tokyo" is located in Otemachi, in the middle of the business district. However, once you step inside, you will find yourself in a different world.
Hoshinoya" is one of the brands of Hoshino Resort, and each facility is characterized by its original theme, offering an overwhelmingly extraordinary experience. Here at "Hoshinoya Tokyo," modern Japanese ryokan are spread out.
This summer, "Tokyo Summer Night Banquet" will be held from July 1.
First, as you enter from the lobby to the auditorium, you will see the "Hoshinoya Fair. The musical accompaniment and food stalls create a festive atmosphere.
You can experience painting Edo wind-bells and making papier-mâché masks. While enjoying these activities, visitors will be served with local sake from the Toshimaya Sake Brewery, which was founded in the Edo period (1603-1868), and ginger soy sauce on "te-tori hanpen," handmade molds made by Kamishige, a long-established paste store located in Nihonbashi.
For dinner, return to your room and enjoy a bowl of conger eel bara chirashi zen or chilled sea bream chazuke. If you are a bit more hungry, you can have a cool and tasty "wind-bell soba" at Minatoya 2 on the first floor for your evening meal.
You can even rent a yukata to match the atmosphere.
In this heat, coolness is a must. So, while enjoying sake and chilled tofu at Ushi-Tsumari, we were treated to a spine-tingling performance of ghost story rakugo (ghost stories) by Yanagisei Tamaya, a true storyteller.
From August 5 to 16, "Oedo Rakuichi" will be held, where famous stores with long-established connections to the culture of the Edo period will come to the market on a daily basis. This is a special week to enjoy traditional culture and food.
This banquet will be held at "Hoshinoya Tokyo" throughout this summer. Normally, it would take a bit of courage to stay at this hotel, but I think it is a very inexpensive way to travel back in time to the Edo period.
