A collaboration between contemporary artist Daniel Arsham and RIMOWA was suddenly announced in 2019. The sculpture, called "Illaudette Suitcase," was created in a limited edition of 500 pieces, and attracted a lot of attention at the time.
The second version of this collaboration has now been announced. . produced is a sculpture of a turntable with a pilot case.
Like Arsham's "Future Relic" series of works, this one is inspired by everyday objects excavated from a future dystopia (underworld). The turntable sculpture is made of plaster and crushed glass.
Arsham, who visited Rimowa's headquarters, noticed this archive and decided to reissue the pilot's case that holds the works.
To elaborate on the pilot case, this was used by airline pilots in the 90s and was useful because it fit behind the cockpit. I don't know how it came about, but musicians and DJs also used it as a case to carry their records.
The reissued pilot case is adorned throughout with a vintage-style logo clad in arsham green , making it look like it has been excavated from the past.
In Europe and North and South America, the silver-cased model will be available in a limited edition of 500 pieces, while in Asia, the black-cased model will be available in a limited edition of 500 pieces. In Japan, the sales will be held at the Rimowa Store Ginza 7-chome on October 7 (Fri.) at 11:00 a.m. by lottery via "line. For those who were in tears the last time, this is your chance to get rid of your exasperation. Don't miss this opportunity.
