The PK1 was the first chair created by Poul Kjærholm in 1955. The lightweight, stackable steel design was made in flag halyard and wicker and has been discontinued in recent years. It has been discontinued in recent years, but is now making a long-awaited comeback, this time with paper cord made of SFC-certified natural materials.
Carl Hansen & Son has been dealing with paper cords for many years, and skilled craftsmen are the only ones who can finish them. Taking a cue from the original, they devised a new weaving method for the PK1. As a result, it took about 15 hours to weave the seat and backrest by hand, requiring about 180 meters of cord.
From this kind of effort, you can enjoy the beauty as well as the soft seating comfort. The size has been increased by 6% compared to the mid-1950s pieces to fit modern people, but they have respected the original design.
It can be used in the dining room, at the desk, or in the office. Even the paper cord is not too natural and looks tight thanks to the hard texture of the steel.
