Smith's Tea Company from Portland opens its first flagship store in Japan. Tokyo-exclusive blends will also be available.

The daily beverage of choice is probably water or coffee. However, Japan has long had a culture of tea. This time, we are pleased to announce a tea brand that is close to, but a little different from, ours.

A store and café of Portland-based specialty tea brand "SMITH TEAMAKER" will open at Shibuya Scramble Square.

As the facility celebrates its 5th anniversary, the 4th floor will be renovated. To coincide with this timing, we decided to set up our first store in the facility where we have had a pop-up for some time.

The store is composed of a store that offers sales and workshops and a café where you can enjoy tea and food, with handmade washi paper made by the 300-year-old "Nao Washi" and lanterns made by the 200-year-old "Kojima Shoten" as symbols of the store. In this setting, visitors can enjoy a tea experience filled with the craftsmanship that Smith Tea Makers values.

Pairing Tea Flight ¥3,300

The café is the most noteworthy of all. The "Pairing Tea Flight," in which you can enjoy three different pairings of cream sandwiches and tea, is a must-try menu item. You will discover a new way to enjoy tea that is rarely found elsewhere, such as the refreshing flavor of minty tea from the acidity of tomatoes, or the golden pairing of the royal cured ham and the royal tea.

The tableware is also very particular. The wooden flight boards are made by Big Sand Woodworking, a Minnesota native now working in Ibaraki, and the cups and plates are made by Minoyaki of Shinzangama Yamatsu, a Gifu Prefecture company with a 150-year history.

In addition, tea lattes, made by extracting tea leaves in an espresso machine, will be available in two flavors, spicy and gorgeous. There will also be cookies and cinnamon rolls by Homecoming Vegan Baked Goods and bricolage bread & co.

Lastly, one of the stores to look out for is "No.428 TOKYO TWILIGHT," which is a new Tokyo-only item.

Tokyo was the inspiration for this celebration of the opening of the first store in Japan. Made with fresh Shizuoka sencha green tea, blended with refreshing green rooibos, gorgeous lemon peel, juniper and lavender. The tea has a refreshing, grassy, herbaceous freshness. The refreshing yet soft taste makes this blend easy to drink on a regular basis.

There are many things that can only be tasted here. If you have not enjoyed black tea or green tea before, please visit us.
