From Thursday, January 9, photographer andMotohiko Hasuiwill hold a photo exhibition "650". The place is a gallery in Shin-Okachimachi called229GALLERYIn ".
This exhibition consists of three series of works that Mr. Hasui has presented so far, "VIATOR/SWELL," "TOKYO," and "AFTER ALL," and will be displayed in a slide show format.
And the title "650" represents the number of days from the time Ms. Hasui's mother was told she did not have long to live until her death. While those 650 days were an unforgettable time for Ms. Hasui, she felt that it may have been just one event in a chaotic life.
This exhibition was created with these various thoughts in mind, and we hope you will view it as a projection of your own life.
Finally, please make a statement.
650 days.
It was also a day of lost color.
I am going to embark on a journey to restore color.
After a world that seems to have been painted only in trails and shades of charcoal.
On a plain white canvas, I paint a world full of color.
But first, let me put the world of 650 days here.
This is the real me. I'm not saying it's true, but I'm sure it's an expression of my emotions.
But you never know what is true and what is a lie.
You can't see yourself as you are, can you? Even your feelings are gone soon, aren't they?
What you think you are is probably a lie. Are those feelings even real?
So surely that doesn't matter.
All I really care about is painting.
By pictures, I mean photographs.
I want to paint my own pictures. I like painting.
Isn't that reason enough?
650 - just a number.
Yes, it's just a number.
